Free agency--- Can the Celtics score big on the open market next year ?
If the Celts were to let Rondo walk next year and not add any significant salaries over this coming season, the Celts figure to have big bucks to spend during free agency next season. Many words have been written about the teams inability to attract free agents in the past. Now if this is true it begs the question as to why. Now I have checked out the team salary level for each year since 1988-89 and compared it against the salary cap for each corresponding year. In only 3 of those years were the Celts under the salary cap. Unfortunately the salary audit was done in April so it doesn't reflect the Celtics financial position during Free agency. So the big questions for all you board members is------ Can anyone out there provide a link showing that the Celtics in the past 25 years or so have had the financial capability to sign some of the elite free agents of the past ?
