Matty,
Other than Cheryl Tiegs I'm not sure what all-stars you're referring to.

It sounds special, Matty. Looking forward to getting the story behind the story. Don't hesitate to ask for technical help from some of our savvy members. Meaning not me!

Re: Saw 4 all stars today..
Well.. The image if one cannot download is of mt. Rushmore...
Today was special for me, when I was about 5 a friend of my grandparents learned I had a strong interest in Abe Lincoln and offered me 3 photos of ol Abe as past of Mt Rushmore, then told me about his recent trip to see the monument. Every since then I've wanted to visit in fact it's the first place in my life I wanted to visit. Early this morning that dream came true and coming up to our first view I pulled off the road for a moment to take it all in and to say a teary eyed thanks to someone who barely knew me but showed a small kindness and interest in a child 35 yes ago.
It was a lesson and reminder as well to never forget the effect a small gesture can have on another..

Matty,
It's wonderful that you got to visit a site and a memorial to a man that are so close to you. Your reactions are that same as mine every time I visit the Lincoln Memorial. You were so fortunate to have someone take that kind of interest in you at age 5. It's great that you got your own photos, but it's the one in your head that will be part of you forever.
Thanks for sharing.
Sam

Re: Saw 4 all stars today..
Wow! Wow! Wow! What a magnificent shot—and all the more meaningful because it's in black & white.
Matty, I expect you've seen it, but I want to make sure you're aware of the Cary Grant movie called North by Northwest. It's a mystery/action film that take place around—and on—Mount Rushmore. Eva Marie Saint is the co-star. One of my favorite movies.
Sam
sam,
Pretty much any Hitchcock movie was good. I love movies that are positively Spartan in their casting, since it forces the actors, and director, to maximize every talent, every lighting, every scene. A Hitchcock movie that fit that bill was "Lifeboat". Another movie that was like that is "Persona" by Ingmar Bergman. Both movies, in black-and-white. Both movies with a limited cast , Lifeboat with around 6 or so and Persona with only 3 (and you only see 2 of them, and you only hear 2 of them talk and the 2 that talk aren't the same two that you see).
Matty,
We're fortunate that we have a board member who is a professional photographer taking that picture. You did an amazing job of bringing out all the sharp edges that outlined their faces. Thanks. One of these days I'll get there myself. It's on the list.

Yeah, but can all-stars from the past hold a candle to today's all-stars?

Re: Saw 4 all stars today..
Sam,
Every time I see a picture of Mount Rushmore, I think of that movie. Cary Grant is one of my favorite actors, going bask to his earlier days in the 30's. One of my favorites is "Bring up Baby", with Katharine Hepburn from 1938. His comedies with Ginger Rogers were great as well.
Quotes:
David Huxley (Grant): Now it isn't that I don't like you, Susan, because, after all, in moments of quiet, I'm strangely drawn toward you, but - well, there haven't been any quiet moments.
and
[In jail]
Susan Vance (Hepburn): Anyway, David, when they find out who we are they'll let us out.
David Huxley: When they find out who *you* are they'll pad the cell.

Re: Saw 4 all stars today..
Sam I have seen north by northwest.. but it was a long time ago and I don't recall the details to well.. I will have to re watch that again!
As for the image, I just shot it on my cell fone and enhanced it.. my pro days with a camera I think are over, I just didn't have the talent I suppose... still fun though.
The Lincoln memorial is quite something.. I have been there once, it was after midnight coming home from a road trip and our family did a by night tour of the city.. another memory to last a lifetime.
Yesterday we left mt rushmore and went to crazy horse mermorial.. again it was a experience I will never forget and one that left me teary eyed as well..
There is more going on there that just the making of the mermorial.. much more... it's a effort to preserve the cultural history of the first people's and an educational center for native Americans as well, all funded by monies from the public.
Sam- and everyone else as well.. When ya do visit mt rushmore make sure to go another 20 miles and visit Crazy Horse.. you will not regret it.
