Heart attack on an Atlanta golf course. He was 64 years old. He had 10,685 career rebounds, 10,241 career points and 2297 career blocks over a 19 year NBA/ABA career. He averaged 2.4 blocks/36mpg. Dwight Howard averages 2.2/36 and we don't know what Howard's numbers might be when he's 39 years old like Jones was in his final year. Not bad for a 2nd round pick out of Albany State-GA.

Caldwell Jones, a key member of the Philadelphia 76ers teams that reached the NBA Finals in 1977, 1980 and 1982, died Sunday after suffering a heart attack on a suburban Atlanta golf course. He was 64.

The 6-foot-11 center was a rugged defender and named to the NBA All-Defensive first team in 1981 and 1982.

Jones was drafted by the 76ers out of Albany State. In his 17-year career, he averaged 7.9 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game. He also played for the Houston Rockets, Chicago Bulls, Portland Trail Blazers and San Antonio Spurs.

He could have been a model for the defensively oriented center I think would be a huge help for the Celtics this season.  Glad he went doing something he apparently loved.  Rest in peace, Caldwell.
