Ainge on what a typical day as Celtics GM is like

Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge is not one to sit back and watch his team be.

We've certainly come to realize that over the years.

But it's not always the case with opposing GMs, who might be a little hesitant to pull the trigger on a trade.

Ainge was asked by CSNNE's Mike Gorman if he sensed some GMs didn't want to make deals because they didn't want to take chances. Ainge called that a "strong accusation", but went a bit further.

"I think when it comes down to it there's a lot of discussion on trades," Ainge said, "and I've sensed that as a general manager your neck's on the line if you do deals, and if you don't do deals maybe the players and the coaches necks are on the line."

Ainge then went on to discuss how he handles a usual day as the GM and somebody looking to improve his team.

"So I usually have a list of things I want to get done in the day," Ainge said. "And usually when the team is in town I usually get to that list by 3[PM] or 4PM with all the other distractions of managing people. But I do have a list and priorities and I have a great staff of guys that help, a very experienced staff. And they come up with a lot of their own ideas as well. So yeah we do a lot of creative thinking and throwing mud at the wall and seeing if anything sticks."
