Rondo Fits Right In
With the Mavs
Had 9 dimes and 7 rebounds but the most impressive stat was the 4 offensive fouls that he drew.
I am a Celtics fan so I will not be posting about former players after this.

....and they barely beat a team with their top 7 all taking a night off.
I think he'll be motivated, hes got 3 guys that can shoot and spread the floor and Tyson can catch lobs, hes better at every position except ironically SF where Jeff Green can do more and is much more athletic than Chandler Parsons. He couldn't make these Celtics better or better enough, we'll see how much better he can make the Mavs.

Dallas also shot a lower than average percentage and had about 7 less assists than average too.
First game. We'll see how he does. Also considering he'll be playing the better west teams a lot more often now too, how will that affect his production?

Dirk struggled last night. Monte Ellis was the main guy against a depleted Spurs team.
Rondo is an assist machine regardless of who he is playing against.

Maybe an assist machine but will he make one of the best offenses in the league better?
We shall see.

From what I read they were also looking for better rebounding at the point. They have scorers and want someone to distribute the ball. Much like during the big 3 era.
The Mavs may be a perfect fit for Rondo's skills.
How many players could step on the court with no practice time and still contribute at this level. The competition in the West is fierce so contending teams are looking to strengthen their rosters.
I do not see how the Mavs offense could possibly be worse by adding Rondo. I would expect their offense to be better.

Mavs shot terrible last eve. I'm not blaming that on Rondo at all, but he did have 4 TO's and a couple passes were saved from being more, his shot was just like here (off) heck he even blew a bunny layup too.
Who knows what disruption a new player and losing close teammates can have on the oft used word "Chemistry" We know what their team FG % was prior to Rondo, lets see if it goes up or goes down, and if they can average as many points as before. Will the defense be better? Rondo took more charges last evening than he has perhaps since before the ACL. SA was laying off him a lot last eve and there will be more of the same down the road. It's only a one game sample for sure. We'll know more in a couple more weeks.
I will be curious to see how this all pans out for them down the road. Perhaps in a couple years we might even meet in the finals.....OK I can dream can't I?

Re: Rondo Fits Right In
Point well taken.
But consider his 4 offensive charging calls that he created. That is 4 turnovers against the Spurs. Plus he had 2 steals which makes 6 turnovers. Throw in his 7 rebounds and overall his contribution was very significant in absense of the errors that he made.
He also knocked down a jumper to tie the game at 84 all.
They are going to get exactly what they need...a best in the league pass first point guard that can also rebound at his position better than anyone else.
They apparently may miss Wright's contribution and the energy from the other guy which is the price to be paid when players are exchanged.
I guess both teams are pleased with themselves.

Time will tell how this all plays out...... for both our teams. RR needs to learn his mates likes but that said he had a good debut.

Rajon always bedeviled the Spurs and even got under Tim's usually unflappable skin.
They'll do great woth him. Most significant to me now is how well Jeff is playing and how little he's getting paid compared to Chandler Parsons. That may play into Danny's calculations regarding trading Jeff this year, especially if he thinks Jeff will be looking for a mega payday.

I hope Rondo does well with the Mavericks, but really don't care much about him any more.
Let's see how the three new guys can help the Celtics

Of the three it looks like Wright is what this whole deal centered on, no pun intended. He was a key sub/6th man for Dallas, so I would think we'll give him as many minutes as it takes to see if he's our center or a keeper for depth. Wright and Zeller at least give us a couple of centers with some potential to develop further.

Re: Rondo Fits Right In
Problem with Wright is that he is not a center and he will be a free agent.

Re: Rondo Fits Right In
dboss,
Wright is actually a F/C, and was being used as Dallas' 6th man, playing center behind Chandler. I think his best shot here is going to be center, although if he worked out to be an upgrade at PF, that's good too.
I think I recall seeing he's due to hit free agency, so I think we'll need to figure out if he fits here fast.
Caught your comment about a laminated Medicare card on another thread. I don't think we'll ever get anything extra from a government-run organization! Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.
Regards
