Wilt Chamberlain holds the NBA record for percentage of his games in which he had double-doubles - 92.6%.

Bill Russell ranks third - 81.5%

Who ranks second with 89.9%?

Lofty figures.

Nope, Will, but it's nice to hear from you. George Mikan's figure was 45%.

Beat, that was the first name that came to my mind.

Sam, great question can't wait to see the answer.
I will venture 2 more guesses, Moses Malone or Elvin Hayes.

Sloop wins the kewpie doll. Bob Petit, who is my choice for the most underrated player of all-time, had double-doubles in 90% of his games. He averaged a double-double in every one of his 11 seasons, finishing with averages of 26.4 ppg and 16.2 rpg.

And those figures don't reveal his raw-boned toughness on defense. He has to make my Celtics all-opponent team.

Will,

Nice to know you're following the forum. You're the one person I always know will have the right answer when I ask what Havlicek's nickname was among the players.

Hope you'll continue to post at least once in a while. Your knowledge and contributions are always appreciated.

Will

MdCelt and Babyskyhook both bowed out of the board a couple of years ago, with letters that cited not discontent with the board but rather a plethora of other commitments. Occasionaly Babyskyhook has phoned me, and I get updates on his surfing around the world and the documentaries he makes.

By the way, I caught the "cek" play on Havlicek's real nickname.

Mustang Gator simply disappeared. I know that much of his posting on the board was done when he was in retirement from the Navy. Then, he got a full-time job that was very taxing, and I've assumed that was why his posting tailed off. I've been meaning to call him, and your post will serve as a reminder.

In 2012 I went to Europe and my airline routed me through LAX.  I met babyskyhook for lunch.  It was a great meet, he is even nicer and cooler in person.

That's one of the great things about this board and separates it from others.  Because we keep the tone and discourse civil and convivial the prospect of meeting board members in person becomes a benefit to board involvement (you have to post for people to get to know you online).  You start looking forward to the opportunity to put a face and a smile together with the on-board conversations.  Meeting mustanggator in San Francisco at a board meetup was great.  Meeting and hanging out with Jeb at that same meet, is and will always be, a memory to be cherished.  Other boards so often digress into personal attacks and shrillness the thought of actually meeting someone in real life becomes daunting.  I would meet anybody and everybody on this board in person without so much as a second thought.
