OK, Where is McGee?
McGee has now 'not been a Celtic' for over a week after it appeared that he was 'going to be a Celtic' last week. So, what is going on with this guy?
When he basically walked away from the Celtics last week I figured that he had a better (more secure for 2015-16) deal than Ainge was willing to give him.
I can certainly understand, from his perspective, that he would much prefer to have the final decision on where he will play next season, but really do not
understand why he is not playing somewhere right now. Doesn't it make sense for this guy to play somewhere right now to show that he has grown up
mentally, can fit in with a new team and not just still be an athletic seven foot guy so that he would have more teams possibly looking at him for next year?
It is not like he is worn out from playing too much this season and needs to further rest up for next season. However, I do understand that he knows that the
76ers will pay him 12 M next year no matter what he does now or in next year. Young guys with money sometimes really amaze me.

Reports: JaVale McGee still in play for Celtics, unlikely to land with Mavericks or Warriors
Dan Feldman Mar 9, 2015, 11:44 AM EDT
JaVale McGee nearly signed with the Celtics last week, but he and Boston couldn’t agree on terms of an option season.
So, McGee remains a free agent – reportedly with plenty of suitors.
But the field might be thinning a bit.
Eddie Sefko of The Dallas Morning News on the Mavericks:
they are not offering more than a minimum contract for the rest of this season.
Most likely, McGee will end up some place else. But the Mavericks are in the conversation.
The 7-foot shot-blocker is not completely ruled out in Boston
Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News:
A minimum rest-of-season contract would beat the Celtics’ proposed team option for McGee. At least he’d become a free agent this summer rather than locking himself into a low-paying deal only if he plays well and getting nothing if he doesn’t.
If Dallas doesn’t think its proposal will lure McGee, he probably has better offers – or is at least projecting he does.
At some point soon, McGee will likely have to prove it, though. I doubt the Warriors change their mind. Why risk disrupting your chemistry for McGee? And it’s hard to see the Celtics or McGee actually reversing their stances.
There are still plenty of places McGee would fit, but if he had a player-friendly contract offer, I think he would have signed already.

It made no sense for McGee to lock himself into a team option contract for next year just so he could make an additional $300,000 this year with Boston.
If he was signing with a playoff team, that would have made sense.
I think McGee will sign soon.
I can see Dallas passing on him.
McGee is not a great locker room guy and they already acquired another not a great locker room guy in Rondo.

Re: OK, Where is McGee?
From all appearances, they're not knocking down the doors for JaVale's services. I'm wondering if he'll have to reset his sights in terms of a player option. If so, it could be vitally important that he have the right "stage" on which to display his wares over the last score of games this season. While I agree that the incremental income would be virtually meaningless to him, the exposure he gets could improve his prospects for the future.
Perhaps a compromise could be worked out that omits any option (either team or player) for next season. If he's absolutely insistent on a player option, I'd suspect it would be because he's concerned about the likelihood that he would look good over these last double handfuls of games. If his former-player agent has any sense, he would advise JaVale that his best asset in posturing for the future would be evidence that he has significant game with a minimum of deterrents.
If there is one team and coach with a track record of reclamation this season, it's the Celtics and Brad. If there is one team that has a need for a defensive big that would almost guarantee him minutes for the remainder of this season, it's the Celtics. If there is one team for which his presence could potentially be a deciding factor in helping them get to the playoffs, it's the Celtics.
Obviously pending what other teams decide to do, I haven't given up on the possibility that he might still wind up with the Celtics for the remainder of this season.

He's floating somewhere up in the stratosphere. Now we'll just wait for him to come back down to Earth.

Who knows what a locker room guy is anyway?
Lots of players have been described like that and turned out pretty well.
Under the right set of lights a diamond shines really bright

Re: OK, Where is McGee?
I believe his revelation that he has ADD was both gutsy and eye-opening. That changes things from being a potential to be a deliberate jerk to being someone who can thrive with a little understanding.
