Celtics' Thomas says injury unlike any he's had before.
CSNE
A. SHERROD BLAKLEY
WALTHAM, Mass. – Isaiah Thomas could hardly sit down in the Celtics' thrilling 95-92 victory over Memphis as he watched it from his hotel room.
Truth is, Thomas didn’t have much of a choice with his lower back injury still giving him major fits.
“It’s been bad,” said Thomas who reiterated that he’s likely out until Monday’s game against Philadelphia. “It’s been hurting when I stand up, sit down. It’s like nothing’s comfortable. I’ve been very uncomfortable the last few days. I’m trying to get the swelling out as fast as possible. Once I can tolerate the pain, I’ll be alright.”
Thomas sustained the injury on Monday in the fourth quarter of a 100-90 win at Miami when he was fouled on a drive to the basket, by Dwyane Wade.
In addition to injuring his lower back, Thomas’ left elbow whacked the floor pretty good as well which resulted in some swelling that still hasn’t completely subsided.
“It hurts but I don’t even notice the elbow because how bad my butt hurts,” Thomas said. “It’s swollen but I can tolerate the pain.”
Thomas said he has never had a back injury before despite having fallen numerous times previously.
“Usually when I fell, I get back up,” he said. “That was a tough fall. It really hurt. I’m doing the best I can to ice it and get that swelling down.”
Thomas said the doctors and medical officials have told him that his lower back injury is unique compared to lower back injuries that they have seen before.
“That’s how deep it was, how bad it is,” said Thomas, referring to lower back bruise. “I’ll be alright.”
And the timing of the injury could not be any worst, with Thomas playing some of the best basketball of his career and this Celtics team starting to come together and play more consistent, winning basketball.
“Very frustrating, but I’m just glad my team...They showed a lot of heart [in Wednesday’s win over Memphis],” Thomas said. “I was excited for them. Hopefully I can get back as soon as possible.”

OK WE HAVE A GAME ON MARCH 25TH AGAINST MIAMI
SO WHO ON THE CELTICS IS GOING TO TAKE OUT THAT SOB WADE AND SEND A MESSAGE THAT YOU DO NOT F@*K WITH US.
WADE IS A PURE THUG, AND IF PEOPLE HAVE SHORT MEMORIES ....HOW ABOUT HIM BREAKING KOBE'S NOISE IN THE ALL STAR GAME A FEW YEARS BACK.
WADE SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN A FLAGRANT 1 IF NOT 2 FOR HIS HIT ON THOMAS. IT WAS INTENTIONAL AS HE DID NOT GO STRAIGHT UP TO TRY TO BLOCK THOMAS BUT RATHER STRAIGHT INTO THOMAS WHEN HE WAS MOST VULNERABLE. HE WAS ALSO SECOND GUY IN ON THE DEFENSE NOT THE FIRST PERSON.
I JUST HOPE SOMEONE CRIPPLES THAT SOB WHERE IT ENDS HIS CAREER.
HOPE THE CELTICS STEP - UP AND SEND A MESSAGE!

Re: Celtics' Thomas says injury unlike any he's had before.
last night in Washington there was a foul similar to Wade's foul on Thomas
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-dont-lie/wizards--kevin-seraphin-ejected-for-flagrant-foul-on-grizzlies--jon-leuer-014641370.html
So which was worse? Wade certainly made a "play" on the ball but the obvious intent was to knock Thomas on his ars.
NBA needs to do something but won't I hope there is a nice hard payback that lands Wade a couple rows deep. And out in more ways than 1.

Re: Celtics' Thomas says injury unlike any he's had before.
Thomas will continue to get hit like the other night when Wade clocked him because there is no secret that he is such a very important part of Boston's team. Some teams will gladly take one foul to limit his performance. He is also small enough for just about anyone to pound around when he goes to the hoop. It will not always take a big, physical guy like the dirty player that DWade is to send Thomas flying towards the ground.
One of two things need to be done to protect guys like Thomas. First, the referees need to throw out guys like Wade when they injure someone no matter how "starred" they are in the league. If Wade were to get tossed from a few games when he takes out guys his team would tell him to stop losing playing time.
If the league does not do something, the next step will be for each team to carry a hockey like thug on the end of their bench for appropriate use. Wade is a big guard, but a 6'10" 275 pound guy can send him crashing to the floor when necessary if need be.
I would prefer that the league step in an do something, but they may never do it either.

I have a feeling that Marcus is going to send Wade a message early int he next game we play them.
and frankly he IS the man to do it.

Either Smart or Bass has the physique for the job, but Marcus also has the mentality for it.
