For Celtics box scores of the 50's and 60's, below site presents a much more comprehensive layout. Give it a try.

Re: Lex Nihil Novi - Russell vs Chamberlain, Game 84
I was looking at the boxscores and the games in Philly all had an attendence of around 9200 so I assume that was the capacity of the Philly arena.
Intimate, no?

As it was the 4th game I assumed it was in Boston but in looking at the series Boston was home 1,3,5,7 games. Home teams won every game in the series.
Game 1
PHI 98
BOS 108
Game 2
BOS 103
PHI 109
Game 3
PHI 94
BOS 112
Game 4
BOS 131
PHI 134
Game 5
PHI 108
BOS 114
Game 6
BOS 106
PHI 122
Tied 3-3
Game 7
PHI 109
BOS 110 (PS hondo stole the ball)
And imagine a 7 game series that was over in 16 days?

Re: Lex Nihil Novi - Russell vs Chamberlain, Game 84
Sort of inconsistent, wasn't it, Beat? In the semis, they alternated home and away with every game. But, in the finals, it was 2-2-1-1-1.
It would be difficult to get any more competitive than in those semis.....7 games with the 7th game decided by 1 point. And there was really only one runaway—game 3, Celtics 112-Philly 94.

Swish, do you know whether there's anything comparable covering the NON-Russell years. I'd love to see similarly comprehensive box scores from the early 50s—especially the 1953 four-overtime game that still ranks as one of my all-time favorites. And, besides, I get easily bored with all favoritism accorded the Russell Celtics, as I don't really care much about them.

That's the best site that I have on Box scores from the early years and as you know it only covers the Russell years. If I come up with a site with info on the early 50's I'll let you know.
