Clippers -Trailblazers Trade
According to reports, the Clippers traded Marcus Camby to Portland for Steve Blake, Travis Outlaw and Ricky Davis + $3M.
Latest twitter reports are that the Clips have waived Ricky Davis.
Ricky only averaged 14 mpg with the Clips this year. ???
He's not a point guard, and he is a bit of a headcase (although he behaved himself when he was in green), but our outside shooting woes would be gone, that's for sure.

Re: Clippers -Trailblazers Trade
cow,
Oden/Przybilla
Aldridge/Camby/Juwan Howard
Batum
Roy/Fernandez/Webster
Bayless/Miller
Where they're thin, with the trade of Outlaw, is at 3, but their guards are big.
If they pick up a 3 cheap, for depth at that position, that's a pretty good team on paper.

Re: Clippers -Trailblazers Trade
bob & cow,
The version I just read sends Steve Blake ($4.93mil) and Travis outlaw ($4.0mil) plus $3.0mil cash for Marcus Camby ($7.65mil).
The trade nets the Clippers $1.28mil more in expiring contracts and $3mil cash to boot.
$3mil is the most cash that can be included in a trade, so the C's couldn't do any better there. The C's do not have two expiring contracts that, when added together, come close to $8mil.
The Celtics could not come close to matching this trade.

Re: Clippers -Trailblazers Trade
bob & cow,
Ricky Davis makes $2.484, so he gets released and signs with the Blazers for the pro-rated vet minimum.
Ricky gets his salary plus gets an extra 1/2mil(ish) for going to another team in 30 days. Maybe that team is the Blazers. Does that fill their need at the 3?

gyso,
We were focusing on the Blazers and forgot what it does or doesn't do for the Clips.
This guy really, really panned the deal, big-time.

gyso,
Would you want Ricky Davis coming back here for the pro-rated minimum?

I would. Because I nearly flunked chemistry in high school, and I'd like to see the Celtics follow suit.

bob,
No, he can go to the Blazers!!!
Seriously, this trade shows you what a team can get in trade by adding a couple expiring contracts together with some cash. All you need is a team that really wants to dump salary.
Some reports said that the Clippers could of gotten more for Camby, but I thought they did alright, if dumping salary was their goal. Not much of this translates to next year, player-wise. All three will be free agents.

Webster has played the 3 all season and is battling Batum for minutes at that position since Nicholas returned 3 weeks ago.

Re: Clippers -Trailblazers Trade
Dont see a big upside either way here.
Camby is a good defensive player and can rebound - but what else does he really bring?
Blake used to hit some big shots down the stretch for Portland, so I really dont get it.
Portland wasn't a championship caliber team before this and they aren't one after it either.

They will be when they're completely healthy but that won't be until next year.

Re: Clippers -Trailblazers Trade
yes, he will help them. No they wont go anywhere with him.
There are 7 teams in the West that were better than the Blazers before this deal. I dont see them jumping past any of those teams even after the deal.
Camby is just not an impact player any longer, sorry.

Re: Clippers -Trailblazers Trade
legit point.would Dennis Rodman help?thats the type of game he brings,in the right situation he can help a winning team.If Blazers get all their key pieces healthy he can add alot, probably next year, just as a Perk or Rodman can add an essential element
