Re: HAPPY PATRIOTS DAY
Excellent sentiment. One of the happiest memories of my childhood, when my family would go down to the town center to watch Paul Revere ride by. The town was Arlington, better known as Menotomy in Paul's day, and it adjoins Lexington. Coincidentally, I've been doing a lot of genealogical work lately, and I recently uncovered the fact that one of our ancestors was lent by the Waltham Militia to the Lexington Militia for the battle of the shot heard round the world. II don't know whether he survived. In small print at the bottom of the record is the notation, "Beat the hell out of a Redcoat (or any other coat that might gain him a championship) named Lebron."
Seriously, I'm so proud to be a resident of a state that stands in equal opportunity remembrance of service then and now. And watching today's marathoners slogging through the rain and cold—for many, representative of their commitment to brothers and sisters who couldn't make the full trip two years ago—puts the real import of something as transitory as basketball playoffs in true perspective.
