The Perkins incident probably should have been an ejection. The way he stood over Crowder afterwards showed that it was "intentional" and also he slapped/punch/pushed (and it did connect) at Crowders face after they were being separated.

When you saw the youtube clip, did it show the beginning of the play? beat has posted pictures of the beginning and it is clear that Love wrapped up Olynyk's arm first. As the play progressed, they both turned towards the ball and "who had who wrapped up" was sort of reversed.

I have seen plays many times where one guy wraps up the other. When one of the players gets tired of being held, he pushes off the other player, or shucks him away. Kind of like "Get off me!!"

IMO, that is what happened. No intent to harm and certainly no reason to be suspended for a game. This kind of push off happens all the time. Olynyk will surely have his suspension reviewed and it should be rescinded.

A single snapshot in time is meaningless. A video that only shows part of the play is meaningless.

Whenever one wants to judge an event (especially when "intent" is being questioned), one must view the beginning, the middle and the end in order to truly see the event.

IMO, to focus on only one part of the event suggests an agenda and not impartiality.

I think both players were being cute with one another with both roughhousing one another in a locked up position..........and neither wanting to back down man wise created the opportunity for someone to get hurt. It just happened to be Love. Call it tough luck but that is how the ligament crumbles!

This is just a "let's make it look good" suspension because the third player of the Cav's "big three" went down. Obviously the league is dying for a James/Curry finale. Now, that is becoming a little shakey.

JR deserved 5 games, with his history and the way the play went down, it was vicious.

Are you trying to tell me that Kelly Olynk went out to harm Love??? No Way. Bad foul, yes, flagrant, maybe yes. They were both going for the same ball.

This is playoff basketball. If these guys had played back in the 60's they would have been knocked around so much they would have gone home crying.

And Perk, I just wish the Celtics had Dave Cowens or even Larry Bird around. Maybe Parish????? If you stop the action you can see Love trying to clear out KO with his left arm extended and leaving himself vulnerable to any sought of injury.

Sorry........I just do not see the justification for a suspension.

Hi,
Here's how BR describes what happened to Crowder:
".... Crowder was involved in two scuffles during the game, as Kendrick Perkins pushed him after a physical battle on the block, and J.R. Smith took a swing at him in a later play. Smith was ejected, and Crowder bent his knee awkwardly as he attempted to move out of the way of Smith's punch. ...."
This paragraph is just above the clip that shows how JR knocked Crowder down. I wonder if the author even watched the clip that he used in his article.

Suspending Olynyk for one game seems okay to me.

I don't think Olynyk had any intent to injure Love, but the way he locked him up and pulled while also using leverage was reckless, and it obviously pulled Love's arm out of the socket. I get that Love locked arms with Olynyk just a few seconds before, but I don't see how that is particularly relevant. Big guys lock each other's arms up all the time.

The thing is, in the thousands of times that one guy locks up another guy's arm during every season, I'm not aware of any other time that someone got a dislocated shoulder out of it. To me, Olynyk deserves a suspension for doing it so badly and recklessly that he injured someone, even if he didn't intend to injure him.

Smith deserved five games, at least. I don't understand the league's action there. If it was someone without a history, I'd say two games, but he's a career knucklehead with a resume of this type of stuff.

Perk deserved a 1-2 game suspension. I don't understand that one either.

we won't 2015-04-30t have to give any thoughts about DA ppulling a quick one to sign Love. I juut heard on the news that he had surgery today, out six months. Will be lucky if he starts the season, probably miss training camp.

Boston won,t be on the short list of possible places where he will land. I am sure he won't be viisiting anytime soon
