INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- Former Syracuse University basketball player, C.J. Fair, has signed a non-guaranteed training camp deal with the Indiana Pacers. The Indiana Pacers now have 17 players signed, 16 players have guaranteed deals, and 15 players have fully guaranteed deals for the whole season. The Pacers can sign up to 20 players heading into training camp.
Indiana already has a full roster of 15 fully guaranteed contracts, so that means that it is virtually impossible for Fair to make the final roster. However, there is the possibility that Fair could be signed to the Pacers' newly purchased D-League affiliate, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. Indiana wants to utilize the Mad Ants to develop players for the future, which could very well mean C.J. Fair being one of those players.
This will be the second year in a row that C.J. Fair will be at the Pacers' training camp. He was among the team's final training camp cuts last season, however, the team has much more wing depth than last season. The Pacers will likely use Fair as a key piece on the Mad Ants since the Pacers still hold his D-League rights.
C.J. Fair spent last season playing with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, where he helped lead the team to a D-League Finals appearance, but the team lost the Santa Cruz Warriors. Fair averaged 13.9 PTS, 5.7 REB, 0.8 AST, 1.1 STL, and 0.7 BLK last season in Fort Wayne. Fair also shot 48.2% from the field, 27.4% from 3-point range, 52.3% from 2-point range, and 75% from the free throw line last season.
Interestingly enough, Fair will be reunited with a former teammate from his Syracuse University days, Rakeem Christmas. Despite his chances of making the final roster being very high, Christmas will probably spend a lot of time in Fort Wayne to develop his skills. Indiana has a wide arsenal of big men that will take away the possibility of minutes for Christmas such as; Myles Turner, Jordan Hill, Lavoy Allen, Ian Mahinmi, and possibly even Paul George since he will get some minutes at the power forward position.

MY NOTE: Another Celtic summer leaguer getting a good look. We looked pretty good in summer league this year. I'm surprised though that Indy didn't have him on their summer league team. Yeah, he played for Syracuse but last year he played with the Fort Wayne (Ind.) Mad Ants. You would have thought they already knew him well. Oh well, good luck to him. He was a pleasant surprise.
Celtic summer leaguer Jonathon Holmes has signed a partially guaranteed contract ($100k guaranteed) with the Lakers.

This guy is just another reason that the summer leagues have become very important to both the players and the NBA teams.
He and Holmes probably would not have gotten signed if they had not done well this past summer.
