Tribute To Tommy Heinsohn
Nice Tribute to Tommy Heinsohn and his Holy Cross Years.

Comcast SportsNet New England is celebrating Tommy Heinsohn's induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame as a coach with a look back on his life.
But before he made his mark on the NBA, Tommy was tearing it up at the collegiate level at The College of Holy Cross.
Check out the clip to see how Heinsohn filled Bob Cousy's shoes once Cousy left Holy Cross for the Celtics.

I had the good fortune to watch Heinsohn in his sophomore season when Holy Cross scrimmaged Umass at Amherst back in November 1953. Future Celtic Togo Palazzi was also on that team and they went onto win the NIT tournament in 1954. Back in those days the Nit rivaled the ncaa for top dog honors. Until Providence College came along in the late 50's, college basketball in the Boston area was all about Holy Cross.

Swish,
Thanks for sharing that with us. I am a St John's grad and saw a lot of ball especially the Chris Mullen era.
But back then it was the golden ear of college basketball and I wish I could have seen Tommy play then.

112288 As a Long time Providence College and Big East fan I will always remember the 1984-85 season. Mullen's senior year and a super great year for the Big East as St John's, Georgetown, and Villanova made it to the final 4. Were you one of the lucky ones at the semi-finals or finals ?

Swish if you were a Providence College fan you must of heard of a friend of mine who played for Providence > Pat Kehoe.
He played center about 7' around 1976-1978.

Spent considerable time trying to recall memories of Pat Kehoe but with no success. Too many cobwebs in my 83 year old brain. Did some research and came up with this article on the very talented Kehoe brothers. In case you missed it I thought I would pass it on to you.

Yes,
We all went to the same high school. Tim was in my graduating class and Pat 2 years back. Their father was a navy captain and involved with the CIA. Both brothers were extremely tall Pat - 6'11" Tim - 6'8".
Believe it or not, in my college years along with a friend of mine we used to kick the Kehoe brothers butts in basketball. I am only 6'0" and my friend is 6'4". Think about that!
Tim was at my wedding as well.
