Sully is expected to sign a 1 yr $8 million deal. Might be good motivation and good for us if he wants to get big money next year.

Celtics have renounced qualifying offer to Jared Sullinger per NBA transaction wire. Team needed to create cap space for Horford signing.

So much for wondering why they would give him more than his qualifying offer huh Bob?

What a shame, he just did not do what they wanted him to do and just would think he could do it his way Too bad, they got nothing for him but I am glad he was not overpaid for a contract they would love to give up

Rosalie,

Yeah, I thought that lacked a certain cogency.

Well, good luck to him.

I wonder if we can resign him now, or if there is something in the CBA that says we have to wait a year?

Anybody know the answer to that?

we can still re-sign him just have to use cap space to do it.

now we know what the cryptic tweet from Sullinger meant about change is coming.

Ainge needed to clear cap space to sign Horford and his $26M first year.

no word on if they kept Zellers' offer on the books and thereby his rights to match any deal he might get.

only needed to renounce one of the two to fit Horfords deal under the cap.

Sully is not likely to be resigned. I do think that Zeller may still be in the mix unless Danny has his sights set on???

dboss,

I find it interesting that Danny makes a comment about how we need "a stronger center", and then let's Sully walk and keeps the softer Tyler Zeller on the hook.

This opens the door a bit for Yabusele to stick around this year, although they are saying he is still likely to spend at least one more year in France.  Then again, those same people were predicting a one-year contract for Sully.

Bob

Yabu has some similar traits like Sully but Yabu is a high energy guy that will run the floor and he can make the 3 ball.  He has been the 2nd best player behind Rosier during the 4 games played in Summer League.  Yes it is just Summer League so we must not overstate his abilities.

Danny wants and needs to make another big time deal so it is possible that he is still looking at Philly to make another trade.  I do not think it will be Noel.  The Celtics need to compete with the top centers in the East.  Al Horford is not that guy.

DA needs to be careful not to trade either of the Nets picks unless he gets the right guy.  There are not a lot of options to acquire a  top of the line center so Draft picks will be offered up.

If we add that special center and find a consistent shooter from distance we should compete for the top spot in the East.

DA wants to make a move now.

Fireworks!

Beat,

I find it difficult to figure why Sullinger would get an $8 M contract at this time when there has been nothing written about him even being looked at by any team (at least that I have seen).

The best offer I have read about for him was his qualifying offer of around $4 M.

Unfortunately, this guy may have left a lot of negative thoughts around the league enough so that he may be lucky even getting the qualifying number that the Cs have recently pulled back.
