Great New Book On Bill Russell

A must read by any Celtic or basketball fan. Half way through book but is tough to put down each night. A great insight into Russell and the evolution of basketball from its inception and through the Russell era. Talk about how the League has become cream puff, you need to read how old time basketball was played, especially Tommy Heinsohn style! If Heinsohn played on today's team, King Shame would get the know the "Red Auerback" parque floor real well!

The book traces Russell's life as it weaves its way through a discussion of college ball and professional basketball and their evolution through the years and the cast of characters famous and infamous.

Just a follow up while reading that I could not stop laughing. The Celtics minus Russell who blocked his phone at his hotel and so no one could reach him for a last minute visit to the White House with President Kennedy met with all the Celtics. While the team began filing out of the Oval Office all the players began thanking President Kennedy for the invite and other goodbye wishes. Satch Sanders who was very nervous throughout the visit because of being in the WHITE HOUSE & MEETING THE PRESIDENT turn was next to say goodbye. He was sweating on his face and he stood face to face with the President and finally wished the President the following:

“Take It Easy, Baby?’’
