Post Game Thread - Celtics drop game 3 to Lakers 91-84 6/8/2010
Sorry for the lateness of my post.
The Celtics started off like gang busters with Rajon and KG pushing them to an early lead in the 1st quarter but then as the other guys tried to contribute (PP and Ray Allen) everything fell apart offensively.
Even in a loss I always try to uncover a silver lining.
In this case it was the play of KG who led the team in scoring with 25 points on 11-16 shooting. Statistically this was a strange game as Boston won points in the paint 50-38 and fast break points 12-8. But Boston was again out rebounded by LA 43 -35 and also the Celtics gave up 11 offensive rebounds.
Ray Allen went from shooting star to a falling meteor He was a stunning 0-13 and 0-5 from behind the arc. It did not see the sharp cuts and good screens as we saw in game 2 and it appeared that Allen was rushing shots at times. The Captain made up some ground after a sluggish 1st half but overall his game was very inadequate with only 2 rebounds and 2 assists all night.
To the Celtics credit that made this game very competitive after falling behind by 17 points. But they just were not able to get ahead of LA and then some late game heroics by Fisher sealed the victory for LA. Glen Davis played well in helping Boston get back in the game. Sheed played pretty good in the post but I would rather see him also take his offense to the post area. He did not shoot the ball well going 1-5 and 0-3 from behind the arc. A couple were ill advised attempts early in the shot clock.
I'm sure everyone in LA is praising Kobe but he was 10-29 and I think Boston will take that shooting percentage in any game. Lamar Odom finally showed up and played well.
I'm not sure there is a lesson to learn from this loss. I'm sure Boston is looking at game film and will look to be more patient on offense.
The Celtics gave up 91 points on 44% shooting and shot 43% themselves. To the lakers's credit they did not wilt under the pressure of the comeback.
Game 4 should be interesting.

Dboss, I just want to thank you for continuing to come up with these post-game posts. I know how especially difficult they are to generate after a disappointing loss. You do a great job.
Thanks again,
Sam

Dboss,
Thank you very much.
Sorry - I kind of hijacked the thread.
There's always a lesson to learn.
