Its not just Danny
I just wanted to throw in one reminder as we alternately praise and condemn Danny Ainge.
Its not just Danny.
The GM takes the heat or praise, and eventually thats whose head is on the chopping block. The way it works, however, is that there are entire department groups for scouting and evaluation. Be it the draft, a free agent signing, or a trade, the GM is most likely acting on the combined advice of several people. If we walk away from the draft without bigs, for example, an entire scouting department had a hand in saying don't bother.
So on draft day, or any other day, there are more faces in the crowd responsible for the call than just Danny. Yes, ultimately he's accountable, and gets the praise or suffers the consequences. It is worth remembering that there will be more than one person behind these decisions.
Just a thought for today.

Good solid reasoning NYCelt - unfortunately, often times there is a rush to judgement that is prepared to go all in before all the facts are in.

Re: Its not just Danny
Danny's only as good as the input given to him.
Kyrie said he wanted to re-sign. He's a moody little twitch on his best days. Did he tell Danny he changed his mind? If not, how would Danny know? Why didn't Danny trade Kyrie by the deadline? Maybe it's because he was going to be an UFA, so nobody would take him without assurances (e.g. Davis and Boston) and because he wasn't sure because Kyrie is not a good communicator. Imagine if he had traded Jaylen Brown and/or Terry Rozier because he thought getting rid of them would make Kyrie smile? Disaster!
Jackie Mac is reporting Danny made a very solid 4 year offer to Horford but Dallas might offer $112M. I don't see how Danny could match that.
