If he is able to get back the Celtics may want to consider keeping Marcus Smart in the starting lineup and bring GH off the bench. The Celtics starting unit is better defensively with Marcus in the lineup and our bench could use a shooter/scorer who can also run the offensive sometimes. That sounds like Gordon Hayward!

Being Hayward off the bench might be a good idea.

How is Hayward doing with his rehab? Is he still on course for being ready?

Cs are going to need him.

I agree. Hayward will add scoring and distribution off the bench, and he doesn't seem to mind coming off the bench. Smart, on the other hand, plays better when he starts.

I said months ago we should start Smart and bring GH off the bench. Right now I wouldn’t mind starting RWill over Theis. He’s got to further transform his body, sooner he can play 30 minutes a game and stay healthy, we will become a 60 plus game winning team.

the other night they said Hayward was back in the bubble. That is not to say he is near return, but it is odd that he is back, no announcement has been made that his wife had their little boy, so there must be some rehab that has to be done there in the bubble. Will he leave the team again?
I believe he will.

Hayward returned to the bubble on Sunday after a couple of weeks home in Boston, but he has not been cleared to play and likely won't appear again unless the Celtics advance to the conference finals. Hayward originally planned to leave the bubble for the birth of his son sometime in September, but his wife, Robyn, posted a message on social media suggesting that now that he is back in Orlando, he's there to stay: "Next time we see you you won't be the only boy."

I think he was in Indiana because she was going there to be with family so there would be help with his kids when she went in. That was what he had said in an interview. Maybe it changed and they came to her??

NBA: Playoffs-Philadelphia 76ers at Boston Celtics



Gordon Hayward cleared quarantine and has the green light to begin his return to the Boston Celtics.

The forward can work with team trainers. He began by shedding a protective boot and walking in grass without shoes to strengthen his ankle.

Hayward has been sidelined since the first game of the 2020 NBA playoffs on Aug. 17.

Coach Brad Stevens said Saturday that Hayward was back in the NBA bubble but won't be ready for competition "anytime soon."

Boston entered Wednesday's Game 6 of the Eastern Conference semifinals with a 3-2 lead over the Toronto Raptors.

Hayward, 30, sustained a Grade III sprain of his ankle while attempting to box out Joel Embiid during Boston's 109-101 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 1 of the best-of-seven Eastern Conference first-round series.

After Hayward jumped for the rebound, he appeared to land on the foot of teammate Daniel Theis. At the time, it was expected Hayward would miss about four weeks.

His availability for potential games in the conference finals or NBA Finals has not been determined. He averaged 17.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists this season.

Robin Hayward should get an award as Celtics Mother of the Year if she lets Gordon play with the Celts instead of being with her during childbirth.
