Lebron in the running for Time's Person of the Year
When I read the headline I thought it was a joke but, incredibly it's for real:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AjSRaulpugDSuDcVT66VwLW8vLYF?slug=ap-lebron-timepersonofyear
Also on the list: the trapped Chilean miners. I guess Lebron's on the same list because he felt trapped in Cleveland...
I thought the only list Lebron would be considered for is Defector of the Year.
Who votes for these things??

steve,
Adolf Hitler was Time's "Man of the Year", 1938
Josef Stalin, 1939 and again in 1942
Nikita Krushchev, 1957
King Faisal of Saudia Arabia, noted "big hearted guy and egalitarian", 1974
Ayatollah Khomeini, 1979
The Computer, 1982 (remember what he did?)
The Endangered Earth won "Planet of the Year" in 1988. Tough competition from all the rest of the planets made this an underdog come-from-behind victory for our under-marketed planet. A weak write-in campaign from the outer planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune) put us over the top. Back then, Pluto was still considered a planet and that might have siphoned off some other planet's votes. A W is a W is a W.
