Bibby & Murphy Linked To Come To Boston

Both Wizards point guard Mike Bibby and Warriors big man Troy Murphy have been linked to the Celtics over the past 24 hours, as the March 1 deadline looms for players to be waived by their current teams and still remain playoff eligible for another team.

Murphy and the Warriors have already reached a buyout agreement, according the San Jose Mercury News. The negotiation requires Murphy to sign with an Eastern Conference team, and he has reportedly narrowed his potential destinations to the Heat or Celtics.

Both of those teams also are interested in Bibby, who has been in discussions with the Wizards for a buyout agreement of his own, according to The Washington Post. The point guard is on the books for $6.4 million next season, which could complicate a potential deal, but the Blazers, Heat and Celtics all will vie for his services should he be waived.

The 32-year-old Bibby and the Wizards agreed to a $6.2 million buyout on Monday, according to the Broussard report, and Bibby is eager to sign with a championship contender after clearing waivers. Bibby was acquired from the Hawks last week in a trade for Kirk Hinrich.

Bibby is averaging 9.1 points and 3.6 assists per game this season, well below his career totals of 15.4 points and 5.7 assists.
