I will be heading over to see her this noon during lunch, hospital is only a 1/2 mile away, I could walk but then they would probably admit me. She was good yesterday and I'll have an updated report in an hour or so.

Well todays visit was interesting.

She walked with the walker about 20 feet to the doorway and back. Took a while.

Bottom line is the therapist thinks she is doing so well she can be discharged to therapy as early as tomorrow.... which by the way is located on the same floor just around the corner of the end of the hall.

She dislikes the food so I told her that is the incentive to do as she is told to get home and eat what she wants too.

We shall see, but so far so good!!

Saw mom today at lunch as the hospital is only a few minutes away.

Hard to believe she had major knee replacement surgery just 5 days ago.
The improvement over the past 2 days is nothing short of remarkable. She must be able to accomplish some tasks before being discharged and she appears to be actually pushing herself to do this. This was one big concern I had is that she would not try very hard but that appears to not be a concern.

Whatever her motivation, it sounds as though she's really determined. A good hospital staff will pick up on that with encouragement of their own, and it's amazing what the human body can accomplish regardless of age.

It all sounds great so far. The time when her determination will really be put to the test will be after the home therapist no longer comes and your mom will be in charge of her own rehab. That's when the family can be particularly helpful by monitoring what's going on.
