WALTHAM -- Rookie Kris Joseph has earned the 15th and final spot on the Celtics' roster, the small forward said after Wednesday's practice.

Joseph, a second-round pick out of Syracuse in the 2012 draft, said he "kind of put two and two together" when the team waived Micah Downs and Rob Kurz but said he was given official word following the practice.

Coming into camp, Joseph, Dionte Christmas and Jamar Smith were all battling for two open roster spots, but both Christmas and Smith were cut when the team signed Leandro Barbosa.

Joseph said Wednesday that he hadn't been given a previous inclination that he would make the team, despite the likelihood that the athletic forward would seem to have a leg up on Downs and Kurz.

"You can never tell because everyone is so nice in this organization," Joseph said. "They talk to everyone the same way so you never really know, but when Jamar and DC got cut, we still had two other guys here, [and] you never knew what was going to happen, so it was just a waiting game and I just had to keep working hard. I couldn't worry about others. I had to worry about Kris Joseph."

The Montreal native earned All-Big East first team honors as a senior at Syracuse, averaging 13.4 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
