THAT'S A TOMMY POINT!!!!!!!

CSNNE.com STAFF REPORT

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced 12 finalists for the 2013 election, including Celtics legend and current CSNNE Celtics color commentator Tommy Heinsohn.

Heinsohn is already in the Hall of Fame as a player (1986), but is up for election as a coach, having won two Championships with the Celtics as a coach during the 1973-74 season and 1975-76 season.

Heinsohn stepped in as head coach of the Celtics during the 1969-70 season, the season after Bill Russell retired as a player/coach.

During Heinsohn's eight seasons as coach, the C's went 416-240, won five Eastern Division titles in a row, and two NBA championships.

If elected as coach, Heinsohn would be only the third to be elected both as an NBA player and coach (Lenny Wilkens & Bill Sharman).
