TOP 100 COLLEGE PROSPECTS - DRAFT 2013 Empty Re: TOP 100 COLLEGE PROSPECTS - DRAFT 2013

I have great faith in the wisdom of Danny Ainge. Usually.

That being said, with one of our needs being more glaring than others, and just one draft pick to work with, if we don't find a way to end up with Cauley-Stein (probable late lottery pick; will probably need a deal we won't/can't make, but should), Plumlee (may fall just far enough) or at least Austin, who ought to be available, I'm going to have to go into a fit of depression. We're talking two bags of Oreos and a gallon of milk depression; and that's before the scotch comes out. And not the good stuff, either.

It's a weak draft and Zeller, Noel and Len will already be gone, so we need it to be one of those three, Danny. It should be possible.

Not that it matters for Boston's purposes because he'll be long gone, but Zeller is surprisingly soft, at least based on the few games I've seen of him, including his most recent game against Temple. Talented, but gets stopped by shorter, stronger players and winds up on the ground instead of being the power player who delivers the force to defenders.

Plumlee looks pretty good.

I haven't seen Austin play. Any idea how good he really is?

very weak draft.

I love Noel's potential (and her is from Everett, MA) and Ben McLemore is a stud. But dont see too many who can step in and make an impact anytime soon.

Outside,

Austin's outside game is actually more developed; despite his size he's a fairly accomplished shooter. He's a 7 footer with a good wingspan, moves well and is quick. I'm not certain of his weight but he's a big muscular kid. The funny thing watching him play is that he still needs to learn the inside game better in terms of using his size to his advantage. He's a Frosh, so he's young and still developing. Some might consider him a project, but not a Fab Melo type crap-shoot. This kid will play in the NBA but the question is does he become what KG now is, a big out on the perimeter, or does he become that highly valued pivot man who can control the game in the paint. With not much talent overall this year, he might be a good shot. Unless miracles happen and we can make a deal to move up that lands us Cauley-Stein or Alex Len (not happening, but one can dream until draft day).

Cauley-Stein shoots 37% from the charity stripe. Yes, he has many defensive attributes but he's as raw as Fab Melo, if not more so. We need someone who can make an impact in 2013-14.

W,

Your comparison of Cauley-Stein to Melo sent shivers down my spine and almost made me get sick a little! I would say there's a bigger difference between the two, especially in that I think Cauley-Stein will play in the NBA and Melo never will.

I need to go wash my brain out with soap now, after seeing those two mentioned in the same sentence. Give a guy somewhat of a warning next time you're going to shock him like that!

Regards

By the way; great looking shot of your grandchild. Everyone sleeping at Jarmin's house with the new little one or is it still surprise wake up time?

NYCelt, No doubt Cauley-Stein has superior athletic ability, but bball smarts? Not yet. 37%. That's the stat that should give you pause. 37% from the line.
Very little scoring a few feet away from the basket. Another big concern. A five year project is what I read.

P.S. My grandson (pictured) will be available for the NBA draft in 17 years, so yes, Cauley-Stein has a 12 year jump on him, but I still would prefer to wait for my grandson, if potential is all that we're banking on.
