Practice Report for 10/14 Celtics+practice

Here are a few tidbits from today's practice.  Follow Baxter Holmes,  Celtics,   Jay King,   and A Sherrod Blakely on twitter for more updates.

Gerald Wallace has has quite an exciting time since moving to Boston.  He grew up a Red Sox and Patriots fan and  has idolized David Ortiz and Tom Brady.  He has gotten to meet both since joining the Celtics.   Last night, he attended the Patriots game but admits to leaving before Brady's big play to give the Pats the win with just 5 seconds to go in the game.  He did however get home in time to watch David Otiz hit the grand slam to get the Sox back in the game and win it.  That's better than Brad Stevens who fell asleep and missed the exciting end of the Red Sox game.

The Celtics are facing the Nets on Tuesday and players were talking about that upcoming matchup. We know that Rondo keeps in touch with KG, talking and texting with him often. It's not that way with all the Celtics, however. Jeff Green said that he hasn't spoken to KG, Pierce or Jason Terry since trade, saying that it had just gotten to a point where it was time to move on.

Brandon Bass didn't feel that tomorrow's game would be that big a deal, considering that it was just a preseason game and feels that their first meeting in the regular season will be much more emotional. Also, talking about Pierce and Garnett being gone, he had this to say: "OG's are gone. Young Gs have to step up."

MarShon Brooks said that he is obviously looking forward to playing at the Barclays Center against his former team because they traded him. Gerald Wallace wasn't quite as excited for the opportunity to go against the team that traded him, however, saying that he has four former teams and so there's no extra motivation in facing the Nets. His motivation is just to continue to get batter as a team.

Jeff Green for his part says he's just going out there to try to get his game back. "I just haven’t made shots. I think that’s what it all boils down to. My shots haven’t fallen yet. So hopefully they will soon."

The Celtics wrapped up practice with full-court 5-on-5 drills which are basically a conditioning drill that encourages ball movement. I guess that's better than the 3 point drills they closed with another time. The team shooting 23% from beyond the arc after that might have ended that tradition. When asked about his lineups and rotations, Brad Stevens had this to say: "We're starting to settle a little bit from a lineup standpoint, at least for now." With half of the preseason games gone, he should be starting to get an idea of what combinations work and which ones don't.
