Marshon Brooks Sent To Maine
The Boston Celtics announced that they have assigned shooting guard MarShon Brooks to their NBA Developmental League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws.
Brooks, now in his third season, has played in only nine games for the Celtics this season, averaging 3.2 points per game on 40 percent shooting. His playing time has, for the most part, come in garbage time late in the fourth quarter.
The 6-foot-5 shooting guard played just under 30 minutes per game in his rookie season with the Nets, but saw that playing time cut in half last year.
This will be the Brooks' first stint in the NBA D-League. Since Brooks will likely start, he will receive the opportunity to progress his skills as a player, which is something he hasn't been able to do while sitting on the bench in Boston.
It also allows the Celtics to potentially showcase him as potential trade bait, since Brooks is only 24-years-old and still has loads of potential on the offensive end of the floor.

MY NOTE: It's probably best for him, he gets some work in, but it has to be pretty depressing for him since he used to start for Brooklyn just 2 years ago. He's still under contract to the Celtics, so this does not free up another roster spot.
