I am not sure they need another PF, but he is a quality player for little money.
Boozer might help the Lakers stay ahead of Utah and Sacramento for 13th place in the West...

The Lakers are just below the salary cap but only have 10 players signed. They need to sign at least 3 more with a 4th soon after that.

Smart pick up. It would seem that like Boston, LA is having trouble attracting prominent free agents.

And right off the scrap heap the Lakers get boozed.

Unlike the Celtics, the Lakers have cap space and cannot attract anyone except for a guy that was cut to make room for a Former Laker, Pau Gasol. Now that's a twist fate for our beloved lakers.

I don't think it's worth its own thread, it's sorta ancillary stuff, but relevant since this paved the way for the Lakers to get Boozer.  If Pau and re-signed with the Lakers they probably wouldn't have been below the cap and been able to bid on Boozer.

The Bulls are a better team, so it would make sense for Pau Gasol to join them. Just the same, you never know about Derrick Rose's situation and if he will ever be even a shadow of what he once was.
