Looking ahead
As we jockey for our final playoff spot should we get past our conference foes and make it to the finals we might get a little home cooking should the Lakers not make it!
We currently have 47 wins.
In the west LA is out in front by a large margin but right behind are...
Denver 48 inc games left with Dallas, Lakers, SA and Pho.
Dallas 47 inc games left with Den and SA
Utah 47 inc games left with Lakers and Pho
Phoenix 46 inc games left with SA Den and Utah
San Antonio 43
We certainly could get home court in the finals against any/and all of these if we take care of business on our end.

While I'd like for the Celtics to see the Lakers in the Finals, considering the difficulty of repeating, the odds are stacked against them and the Lakers' chances are not good. I hate to say it but I actually admire this year's Lakers team; they've fought hard almost every night when other teams played their A game against them, and they've hung tough. I just think the odds are against them repeating.
That makes the stretch run a real horse race. Or maybe it's a chariot race. Bobcc would know about those. Obviously he's been around forever.
Hey, Bob, whatever happened to all that hair?
Lucky for us there's no penalty in basketball for piling on.

At one point in the mid-70s I had a bright red flaming afro about 6 inches high. I could dunk the ball easily then as I was almost 7' tall.
Cut the hair and became a 3 point shooter.

What the hell kind of name is Carcers, if you don't mind my asking? Or is it Lancers? Or did you grow up in Curacao and I've come down with adult dyslexia?
BTW I hated playing against guys like you. All muscle and bone, too tall to outjump, could probably run all day, sneaky fast, shoot from anywhere, the only way to beat guys like you was to beat them up - if you could catch them.
When was the last time you were in Boston for a game?

Re: Looking ahead
I think the Lakers chance of repeating is as good as any team has had since they repeated...possibly better. It's not easy to do but they are in a half decent position to do it. I don't see anyone stopping them in the west, assuming things stay as they are. I can't see anyone that can beat them in a playoff series, which is different than taking the season series. In the east, I think it's different. Cle may take them, if they don't implode like last year. Orlando might...Boston is the wild card to me. I still think Boston has the most upside if it happens, if the bench can really come on. I still can't understand why Boston isn't stronger...maybe it's just wishful thinking but I keep thinking this team is going to come on strong right at the end and jell...

LA Celt fan
Lakers waltzed thru the playoffs last year basically. They are a year older and IMHO not as good and certainly not as deep. Health is an issue. I don't remember to many games last year where they just mailed it in like they did last evening. This LA team right now scares nobody. Playoffs are indeed a different beast and the lakers are playoff made with all the time between games.
As for the C's it's been nearly 70 games and we have yet to see all the pieces come together.
KG looks as close to 100% as he has all season.
PP is hitting his stride.
RA is looking OK to great.
Perk needed a night off and got it not too concerned with his heath
Rondo perhaps the team MVP
BENCH is as good as any and better than most.
Playoffs will be very interesting!

Jeb, 6'6" is correct.
Spike, Lancers is correct, good name for a Catholic school. Honestly in that picture I probably was 6'4" and 145 pounds, there wasn't any muscle on that frame! I understand the beat them up mentality, though we only used it when the other team was much better than us. Haven't been to a game in a few years now as I'm out in Western MA, but in the 80s and 90s I worked in the Financial District and used to go to a lot of games. The old garden of course had those obstructed view tickets that, even during the Bird years, were usually available though the games were "soldout." The seats were so bad they didn't count, but then we would just go to the standing room in the balcony at mid-court and it was a great site line.

Reason I asked is because there are two Friday night home games left and one Sunday afternoon. I've driven to the Berkshires many weekends to go backpacking and it's not that long a drive from where you are to Boston. My buddy who usually goes to games with me is in Fla following the so-called baseball team that occupies Fenway Park, the poor misguided fool, missing the Celtics on the verge of making history (maybe I'm slightly over-optimistic - nah).
Anyway, there are still good tickets available. Should you or anybody else be interested.
The Celtics this season appear to be a good road team. They beat Cle, Orl and LA in their own bldgs, among the many. I'm not so worried about home court for that reason.
What about resting people in the last few games of the season? You wonder what Doc will do if there's the opportunity to have homecourt advantage over all the West teams except LA if they make it to the Finals. Do you play your thirty-somethings or rest them?
There's been plenty of injury-related rest this year, but that's not the same thing. There is the possibility of further first-period blowouts, wouldn't that be special?, allowing plenty of late season rest, and, in spite of everything it's almost too much to believe that there is a real chance of some kind of rampage through the playoffs. Rampaging bulls, you might say.

We finish with 3 back to backs with 1 and 2 days between them (4 away and 2 home) and none of these games are against POWERHOUSES either. I'd think we could still manage minutes and win um all.
One at a time for now I guess.

Re: Looking ahead
Doc sat out the Trio at the end of the '08 regular season, I mean, chained to the bench wearing street clothes, and that worked out. Big Bambino, Perk, Leon and Rondo got to be chiefs and have some fun, and, so did the fans. Then, they charged into Atlanta and well, it wasn't exactly a re-enactment of Sherman's march, just good enough.
That probably wouldn't be advisable this year, what with the new additions and the discontinuity phase. The thrilling thing is, they haven't peaked yet.

Spike,
I'd like to go, I get back that way once every month or two as there are relatives and many friends still in the area, so the ride is no big deal. I see Friday the 2nd and Sunday the 4th but neither will work as my new dog is having his surgery (say goodbye testicles) on Thursday the 1st. He has bad kidneys so recovery will be slower than normal and have to be monitored closely.
Friday April 9th against the Wizards? I'm game for that one. Let me know, and perhaps we can get a few others to attend.

Agreed beat, it will be very interesting.
I think that the Lakers are kind of coasting into the playoffs and will be a different animal then.
That doesn't mean they are a lock but someone will have to rise up in the west and play above the level that they are playing now to beat them, it could happen but I wouldn't bet against the Lakers coming out of the west right now...and I don't see which team would do it. At the same time, I can't shake this feeling that the Celtics are going to be a different animal in the playoffs too. It's just a funny feeling that both teams may square off again. I don't think that home court advantage is terribly important to either the Celtics or the Lakers, this year....nice to have but not essential.

April 9 works for me. I didn't get to any games in '07-'08 and lived to regret it. This year I'm trying not to make the same mistake. I'll check to see what sections are still open; the lower bowl, on the side where the cheerleaders come out, is my favorite spot. Filmateleven.
In a different note: the poor suffering puppy. Life sucks, you get your nuts cut off, then you die.
