Russ

did you mean you WOULD have to consider a trade with the kings for #5 &10 and WCS?

or no?

I actually think IF Danny thinks Fultz is not that much better than others in the top 5, he might consider that deal.

with WCS basically replacing Amir on our roster without harming his cap flexibility

Oh, I think I would do that deal. Who would we take, Tatum and Monk, I would hope......not sure Monk will be there at 10

Can you imagine, though, if BOTH deals happen?
#1 and Crowder to PHI for #3, next years lakers pick, Saric and Holmes.

THEN we trade #3 and maybe Rozier to SAC for WCS and #5 and 10?

WOW!!!
IT, AB, Brown, Horford, WCS
Smart, Monk, Tatum, Saric, Holmes...............Nader, Yabba and Zizic.

Holy crap!!

That would have been Sam's response about now. That or a comment that he would add a post, but he had to go floss his teeth.

that is where I put this. When we got KG, the whole world opened up for us . I was so excited when we drafted Len Bias that I could go back to that as one of the most exciting times.

Want to go back further? When Red pulled off the Bird steal. Or the Parish/McHale deals. Then we go back to getting JoJo White, who was coming off a great Olympic experience and somehow fell into our hands.

Draft time is such a great time. New beginnings. But we have had some duds too.
When Red insisted on drafting Joe Forte?? Michael Smith, the great white hope??
Keep going and going.

But this year is a winner I firmly believe. The only question I have is : Now that Fultz is working out for Sacramento, does this mean that Danny did not give the kid a wink and a nod that this is where he will be? Or is there a deal in the works that will blow our minds and we say WHY??????

What I am finding odd is that Fultz is working out for Sacramento, but not for the Lakers or for Philly or for Phoenix, ALL of whom pick before Sacto.

That is what I mean, Who would be on Sacramento that would be worth trading for and giving up a potential all star????

It would have to be Willy Cauley-Stein, as well as picks 5 and 10

Fultz has not said he's not going to workout for the Lakers, Philly or Phoenix.
Supposedly the Lakers want to bring him in next week.
Meeting with only the team with #1 pick and the #5 pick makes no sense.
If Boston passed on Fultz for Johnson, you can bet Fultz would be wanting the Lakers to draft him.
Lonzo's dad is an idiot.
I do not think Markelle's family would provide the same flawed direction to their son.

Kings have a few prospects: WCS, Richardson, Papagiannis, Labissiere, and Hield

WCS is the only one I'd want there. They traded Cousins to get Heild, so he's not coming. The others are meh........but I think WCS could help us.

Ainge should be fired if he trades the #1 pick for the #5 and #10 pick.

5 + 10 does not equal 1.

It's about quality, not quantity.

It all depends on the particular draft. People have convinced themselves that Fultz is some generational talent, just because he's ranked #1 on a lot of internet boards. It's simply not true, no matter how many people optimistically repeat it.

Like I said originally

IF Danny feels there is not that much difference in the top five players...then the deal could make sense.

Kinda hard to understand why Fultz changed his mind about working out for other teams and then is going to the Kings for a workout this weekend.

maybe nothing

Counter-reports: Markelle Fultz not visiting Kings this weekend

https://www.yahoo.com/news/counter-reports-markelle-fultz-not-174401576.html

Markelle Fultz working out for the Kings? It seemed too good to be true.
Because it probably is.

James Ham of NBC Sports California:

The Markelle Fultz Thread - Page 6 Screen10

The Kings weren’t getting Fultz, anyway. He’s likely to go No. 1, and Sacramento – even with the Nos. 5 and 10 picks – lacks the assets to trade up that high.

But the Kings have more modest goals, like convincing people around the league that Sacramento isn’t “basketball hell.” A visit from the draft’s top prospect this weekend would have helped.

The Kings will have to find other ways, potentially including flying out Fultz at a different time. But, considering another report said he’d work out for only the Celtics, that seems unlikely.

That's not the reason why I think Fultz is #1.

I've been monitoring Fultz since January.
Every chance I get, I watch his game on TV.

He's a generational talent because he's that good!

Everybody here already knows that you love Josh Jackson.
Maybe that's why you have nothing good to say about Fultz.

Watching Kyrie last night I kept thinking, we need a transcendent player like that. From where do such players come? The draft, almost always. My hope is that Markelle will be such a player for us. We need quality of that caliber to win #18...

Worcester,

We need more than one. We have one that, while not transcendent, is pretty good and we got completely taken out of our game because he was getting triple-teamed and nullified. Today's defenses are SO much faster than the old days you can trap a player out at 35-40', make them give up the ball and still recover in time to disrupt the next offensive reset.

Oh yes, we need more than one transcendent player. We have a very good player in Isaiah, but clearly he is no Kyrie. We may get a great player in Markelle, but clearly he needs other GREAT players around him. At least one more. Kyrie has LeBron. Kevin Love is a very good player - not great, GSW has two GREAT players - KD and Steph - and a superb player in Klay and a damned good player in Green. We need at least two GREAT players and some damned good ones to compete for #18.

Watching this video, the things I notice:

1.  He has a very nice high release point on his shot, it is smooth as silk and it is repetitive.  Every shot of his is NOT an adventure in mechanics.
2.  He doesn't seem to have explosive speed horizontally, but he gets up quick.  Sorta like an Evan Turner with hops.
3.  Will need to work on his handle.  Ok for college, he'll get stripped or get hands on the ball a lot in the NBA.  Then again, I have no idea how Evan Turner has gotten away with his high, loose dribble all these years either.  Maybe I just have a blind spot.
4.  Has a nice crossover to create space for his shot.  Not enough footspeed to penetrate off it but a Kobe-like ability (or, at least, "intent") to get his man going one way and then crossing over one step to get his shot off. Kobe continued to make a career out of that long after his physical skills had begun to erode.

My conclusion, from watching this video alone, is that he is not uber-athletic.  He has good size (6'4") but is more of a crafty player, a player who knows how to get what he wants rather than a player like, say, Jaylen Brown, who uses his athleticism to give him an advantage.  One thing that is absolutely, positively for certain is that he has a shooter's touch, a shooter's mentality.
