What happened to July 1?????? Trades allowed before that? Good for Lopez, he was a good soldier for that Nets for all those awful years. Here's hoping he stays healthy

Re: Brooklyn traded Brook Lopez to the Lakers.
If the Lakers pull off the Paul George deal they will be pretty good. Playoff good? I don't know but not 2-5 bad and that is all that matters to us.
The Nyets will still stink, I think. Lopez was the best player on their team. Mozgov doesn't replace him on offense, not even close, and probably isn't much better on defense. At least he'll be able to understand the owner. He'll play hard for them, especially if he still has any relatives living in Russia. And Russell lacks the maturity to run a team. Still, deals like this between two desperate teams highlights the risk of future draft picks.

As long as players are under contract for next year, trades can be made before 7/1.

Re: Brooklyn traded Brook Lopez to the Lakers.
I am very happy about this trade.
Getting free from Mozgov's $48m is huge.
Lopez is a 20 point scorer who shoots well from the 3 point line.
He's a poor rebounder.
If Brook wants a large contract next summer, LA could offer a max contract to Cousins.
I agree with Bob. Boston probably won't get the Lakers 1st round pick in 2018.

Well 2-5 was slim and none regardless.
This trade also solidifies the notion that LA will take ball.

TJ,
This was good for both of our clubs, I think.
For the Lakers and their fans, you shed Mozgov's contract and get an offensive upgrade with Lopez. Defensively, however, the news is not so good. The Lakers are a poor defensive team and Lopez will not improve that. As far as Russell goes, that was one expensive mistake.
For the Celtics and their fans, we will end up with Sacramento's pick in 2019. That's fine with me. While I admit it would have been nice to have two shots at #1 next year I also didn't want to add TWO new kids either. Of course, with Trader Danny, there are no assurances that we'd keep the #1 pick even if we got it. I have more confidence Sacto will continue to be the west coast raging dumpster fire bookend of Brooklyn than I do of Magic allowing the Lakers to remain in the basement for that long.

The Lakers are already in the mix to make a trade for PG13 now

Apparently the Cavs are having difficulty trying to make a trade for both Butler and George.

There seems to be two offers from the Lakers on the table.
PG for Clarkson, Brewer, #27, #28
PG for Randle, Black, Brewer, #27, #28

Re: Brooklyn traded Brook Lopez to the Lakers.
Looks like Magic is ready to wheel and deal. Will not be long before they are back in the mix but they still have a lot of work to do. I have little doubt that PG13 will be on the team.
That provides a real nice core with Lopez, PG13, Ingram and Ball. I like where they are going.

The Lakers want to hold on to their #2 pick and are offering #27 and #28 instead. Indy wants the #2.

Well Magic already moved Russell so they need a starting quality PG.
Or they could simply thumb their nose at Indy and just get him for free when he becomes a free agent.
Indy has very limited bargaining chips and as long as PG is firm in his conviction that he wants to play for LAL they will not be able to find a trade partner. If Magic is smart he will just chill. it is not like LA is anywhere near contention.

Watch out for the Clips. They are gauging interest in Jordan. George on THAT team would be really scary. And if they find a way to keep all their FA's.....that team could be Paul, Rivers, Redick, George and Blake........that's a great team, and George is IN LA!

Also an admission that Russell is not the second coming of John Wall, which I heard out here for two years............

Re: Brooklyn traded Brook Lopez to the Lakers.
Lakers must going hard to get Paul George. they supposedly tried to trade #2 to the Kings for 5 and 10, so they could offer 5 ans 27 in the deal for George.
seems to me the deal to get done is either #2 and Clarkson or Randle OR Ingram with 27 and 28.
Magic seems to not want to trade Ingram, but does he need him with George there?

The Lakers have said Ingram won't be traded and neither will the #2 pick for PG.
There could be better offers than what LA is willing to offer.

Re: Brooklyn traded Brook Lopez to the Lakers.
With how the Nets played so much better during the last 1/3rd of the season I thought that they would continue to improve next year which would have pushed the Cs hope of using the Nets pick in the top five picks next June out the window.
But now, with the Nets trading away their best player (by far) they may just be in the running for the worst record in the league again this year.
Not part of this thread, but how did Lopez manage about 18 rebounds per game in every game against the Cs and yet only average less than five total rebounds per game over the course of the entire last season???

Re: Brooklyn traded Brook Lopez to the Lakers.
Here are Lopez's rebound totals for the four games he played against us last year: 5-3-5-7. 20 rebounds total in four games. 5 per game, not 18.wideclyde wrote:With how the Nets played so much better during the last 1/3rd of the season I thought that they would continue to improve next year which would have pushed the Cs hope of using the Nets pick in the top five picks next June out the window.

steve,
I clearly stand corrected. I guess it just seemed like he had every rebound in those games.

Not during the regular season, but Robin Lopez's offensive rebounds were off the charts against us in the 6 game playoff series we played against the Bulls.cowens/oldschool wrote:kdp59 wrote:maybe you're thinking about Robin Lopez.
