Vegas Summer League - Game 2 Celtics vs Trailblazers
Celtics won game 2 over Portland 70-64.
Who was the guy with the funny name on the back of his jersey. I have not seen him before but he scored 9 points but most importantly he had 11 rebounds and 4 block shots.
Other contributors included Brown with 13 points and 8 rebounds and our prized rookie scored 11 with 7 boards.
Brad is going love the gunner Semi Ojeleye. He took 9 3 point shots in the game (3/9)
Over all this was a slow low scoring game with sloppy play. Tatum with 3 TO's Brown had 4 and Semi had 4.

Re: Vegas Summer League - Game 2 Celtics vs Trailblazers
45 rebounds in a 40 minute game. That's very nice.
Jaylen with another off shooting and floor general night. He had a great first game but hasn't had a stand-out game since. His handle isn't that good. He said he wanted to play in summer league to prove something. All he's proving so far is that individual workouts don't necessarily transfer to game play.
18 TOs not very good in 40 minutes neither.
On the other hand, the Portland team has some nice talent on it and we lead the whole way.
Bird has possibilities for 2-way. Kadeem Allen's offense is too raw. He's G-league bound, I think, not 2-way. His defense isn't bad though.
Our people repeatedly get caught watching the paint dry, not just in this game. Zizic powered in a put back, they inbounded quickly while Zizic's man, Caleb Swanigan, took off down court. Jabari Bird was trotting back didn't notice the player in front of him. Just one example of stuff I've noticed in every game so far, including Utah league.

Some of the defensive rotations are not there but that is to be expected.
Most encouraging thing was Zizic playing with more fluidity and pounding the glass. Three more games at least to play and then these guys can work on their to do lists to get ready for training camp and preseason.
This will be a very challenging year given all the new players that need to be integrated into the system.

Boston Celtics summer league 2017: Ante Zizic adjusting, says he'll be '100 percent ready' for NBA game by regular season

LAS VEGAS -- After his best summer league game to date, Boston Celtics big man Ante Zizic offered a fair assessment of his comfort level.
"I need just a little bit of time because this is my fifth game here," Zizic said. "So I'm doing my best -- actually, I expect a little bit more from myself. But like I said, I need just a little bit of time to (adjust) to this style of game."
Zizic started this past season in Croatia and finished it with David Blatt's team in Turkey. Though the 2016 Celtics draft pick posted impressive stats at each stop, the NBA style and athleticism represents a significant difference.
The adjustment hasn't come immediately. Zizic has played on a tape delay at times, struggling to keep up on the perimeter, reacting a stop slow with his help defense, looking very much like a 20-year-old adapting to a new environment.
"Everything is much faster. But I think right now, today I played really good," Zizic said after notching nine points, 11 rebounds and four blocks during a 70-64 win against the Portland Trail Blazers. "Just want to give congratulations to my teammates because we played good on both sides of the floor so I think we're going to keep winning."
"The game is much faster," he repeated. "But for me that's not a problem. After training camp I will be ready 100 percent for this style of game. And of course there's a lot of -- here, they prefer a game of 1-on-1. And I'll find my role."
Even after agreeing to sign Aron Baynes, the Celtics don't have much beef in the frontcourt. They could use another physical presence, but it's unclear whether Zizic will be ready for a regular role when the season hits.
"I think he's just getting comfortable with the game," said summer league coach Walter McCarty. "A lot of times he goes to the rim, he's sealing for such a long time that by the time the play happens so fast and gets downcourt, he's a step behind. So I think he's finding the medium of sealing, it's not there, don't get the offensive rebound, I don't have it, recognize it, and get out down the court."
Added McCarty: "(He) really just (needs to) learn the terminology, the lingo that we use, just run the floor, getting deep seals, rebounding, and just getting comfortable with DHOs (dribble handoffs), handling the ball up top and being able to make plays," said summer league coach Walter McCarty. "Right now he has to be able to get low and get in the triple threat because he's just standing straight up when their pressuring him and not allowing him to run the play. So we've just got to get him comfortable with that, and just get used to playing in a triple-threat and handling the ball out top."

Re: Vegas Summer League - Game 2 Celtics vs Trailblazers
it was a back to back game and Tatum talked about it after the game being an adjustment to the pro game that way.
The announcers talked about McCarty making an adjustment with Semi in LV summer league (as opposed to Utah). Something about him being more comfortable at the top of the key area than on the wings for spot up shots. Looked like it worked last night.
continued baby steps for our young guns is what I see. Jackson has been a steady ball handler since that bad game one.
now everyone stay healthy.
