Report: Markelle Fultz no longer in 76ers' long-term plans
https://sports.yahoo.com/report-markelle-fultz-no-longer-76ers-long-term-plans-013108592.html
"The Philadelphia 76ers might be looking to move on from Markelle Fultz. The first-overall pick is reportedly no longer in the team’s long-term plans, according to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
"While the 76ers have supported Fultz publicly, the team may have already moved on privately, according to Pompey."
Shocking development.

I would try to pick him up on the cheap if possible. He does get assists and rebounds. His shot will get right again.

It would be amazing if we pick him up. I too would take a chance if we didn’t have to give up much, and he agreed to play in the G-League for an extended period. Philly just couldn’t trade him to us though, that would be so embarrassing!

This kid has already failed in Philly and it is mostly the team's fault. Around the Philly area the press has buried him since being selected and the team has never protected him to the point that they should never have picked him.
His shot problems are fixable, but not in Philly due to the emotional issues that he has encountered there.
Some technical shooting pointers, some confidence building and some time are needed for this guy to become an NBA player.

His agent/lawyer is the one telling the team and press he’s taking a break to fix his shoulder, the team expected him to play and he can, he just can’t hit shots. Since when does an agent dictate to a team when his client can play? I’m sure the team is aware and has trainers that have been working with him....strange all the way around.

There is no way in hell Boston would pick him up.
Philly made a bad decision so they must live with it. He still has a $9.7 million guaranteed after this year. His stock has to be low so some team will maybe offer up a scrub or 2 at the most. He likely would be included with a multiplayer trade.

Re: Report: Markelle Fultz no longer in 76ers' long-term plans
Under his current contract, he is the 1st pick in the draft. That is too expensive for my taste and trading for him is a poor bet for Danny to make, IMO.
If the 26ers buy him out and he is available for vet minimum, we really do not have room to sign him unless we release someone. Maybe that someone is Wannamaker. In that scenario, getting him on board could be a low cost - high reward reclamation project, which is right up Danny's alley.
It would be funny if he did end up here. As BobC says, it would be so embarrassing to Philly if that happened. That may be all it takes for Fultz to sign on in Boston.
Still, highly unlikely.

Markelle Fultz stock watch: Let's be honest about Fultz's trade value

Markelle Fultz stock watch: Let's be honest about Fultz's trade value originally appeared on nbcsportsphiladelphia.com
Every week this season, we'll be taking a look at Markelle Fultz and how the 2017 No. 1 overall pick is progressing through his second NBA season.
Fultz has had many weird weeks, but this one was by far the most drama-filled.
In Monday's win over the Suns, Fultz sat in favor of T.J. McConnell in the second half. At the time, Brett Brown said he was looking for a spark but also didn't shut the door on McConnell supplanting Fultz going forward.
The next day, Fultz's agent Raymond Brothers announced that his client would not participate in practices or games and would be seeing a shoulder specialist the following Monday (today).
Elton Brand and Brown were both taken aback by the fact that Fultz had been dealing with shoulder issues. It was also reported that Fultz took part in some light shooting with his teammates that morning.
Then things got really weird. Per a report from The Athletic, Fultz has also been dealing with a wrist injury and "could prefer a change in scenery." In addition to that, the Inquirer reported Fultz was "no longer in the Sixers' long-term plans."
So he wants out and the team doesn't see a future for him here. A trade seems like the most logical solution, but it certainly won't be easy.
First off, we need to be honest about what Fultz's trade value is. We outlined trade scenarios last week. The ones that make the most sense involve moving Fultz for a veteran on an expiring deal that can help improve the team's bench now.
If you're the Sixers, getting a Trevor Ariza or a Courtney Lee would be a plus. Both could help you achieve your lofty goals this season and both come off the books at the end of it. The team would also no longer be on the hook for Fultz's recently picked up option for 2019-20 at $9,745,200.
The reality is, this is the best you can hope for if you need to trade him now. The fact that Fultz was once the No. 1 overall pick has no bearing right now. His struggles - whether physical or mental - have to be a red flag to teams. Fultz trying to force his way out of town doesn't look great either. You can't expect a team to give up much.
And though the Sixers gave up a lot to take Fultz No. 1 overall, it was Bryan Colangelo's move. Elton Brand doesn't have to feel obligated to make Fultz work here. Brand can move Fultz and wash his hands of the whole situation.
Sadly, this could be the last edition of the Markelle Fultz stock watch. Stay tuned.
bob
MY NOTE: Getting Trevor Ariza or Courtney Lee for a rookie shooter with a very broken shot, I believe both physically and mentally (i.e. his mechanics are now completely messed up, perhaps because of a lingering injury or his injury is better but his mind isn't letting him get back to what got him here) wouldn't be a plus, it would be a coup. My first thought when I heard this story was to think "oooh, Danny can get him for a song and we'll have gotten Tatum, the Sacto pick and Fultz for the Brooklyn pick and a low 1st round pick (or less!)", but now I'm thinking Danny is running, not walking, away from anything to do with Markelle Fultz. He has Kyrie and Rozier and other players that we know for sure are effective and can play who will be wanting money next year. Why lock up our salary cap on broken wing and a prayer like Markelle Fultz?

NBA Rumors: Cavs "dangled" this Markelle Fultz trade package to Sixers
NBC Sports Boston
Wed, Nov 28 5:15 AM PST
It's certainly looking like Markelle Fultz's future isn't in Philadelphia.
The 76ers guard remains sidelined with shoulder and wrist injuries, and a recent report suggested the 2017 No. 1 overall pick is no longer a part of Philly's long-term plans. Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders added fuel to that speculation Tuesday, reporting one NBA team already has made a preliminary trade proposal to the Sixers involving Fultz.
Other teams have been sniffing around the Fultz situation, with the Cleveland Cavaliers believed to have dangled a deal built around Kyle Korver and a protected draft pick.
The Cavs have their own first-round draft pick at point guard in rookie Collin Sexton. They're in full rebuild mode, however, and while Fultz comes with a high risk, he still has a high ceiling and could form a promising backcourt with Sexton if he can get healthy.
The Sixers, meanwhile, seem ready to move on from Fultz, with Kyler adding the team views Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Jimmy Butler as its future, with Fultz "not in the picture."
Philly may struggle to net a decent return for the 20-year-old, though, as one NBA executive said recently he'd be "surprised" if a team gave up a first-round pick to land Fultz.
bob
MY NOTE: From being the #1 pick (not just a first-round pick, THE #1 pick) to not worth a first-round pick in a year and a quarter. Wow. If I was Philly, I'd have taken the Korver deal just for the multi-year salary dump it gives Philly.
