Ramping up to Camp
Well, the FIBA Tournament didn't go the way we hoped but, nevertheless, good stuff came out of it.
1. Our four guys got to play a lot of minutes together and learned each others' games.
2. Our four guys like each other, a lot, apparently. A pleasant change, to say the least.
3. Other than a couple of tweaks to Tatum and Smart nobody got seriously hurt.
4. Jaylen Brown had a bit of a "coming out" party. He was one of, if not the, key players in Pop's rotation.
5. If we weren't going far in the tournament it's better that it ended sooner than later. More rest for the guys.
Camp opens 9/30. 16 days until camp. 16 long, long days...

Re: Ramping up to Camp
The one guy on this team that get's overlooked is Semi.
We have discussed guys from last year that saw significant reduction in minutes. The 3 guys that best fit that description were Terry Rozier (25.9 to 22.7) Jaylen Brown (30.7 to 25.9 and Semi Ojeleye (15.8 to 10.6)
As much as I like and respect Brad Stevens coaching acumen, he truly did not have a clue on how to utlize his team last year.
The best thing that could have happened has happened. The team no longer has a core that goes 8 deep and because of that guys like Jaylen Brown should go back to playing starter minutes instead of major rotation minutes.
Rozier is gone and Edwards takes his place but Edwards will not be getting as many minutes as Rozier got.
But what about Semi? He was a solid defender on the team last year and if he can cash in on the work he has put in over the summer to improve his 3 point shooting, he is another option to get starting assignments on this team.
The single biggest problem on the team last year was having too many guys that wanted their looks. That is the reason why having too many opportunists in the lineup may not work. I think you simply need to have a defensive minded player in the lineup that is not concerned with getting his share of shots up.

Re: Ramping up to Camp
RW is definitely an option and he should get some starts against big lineups.
I also think GW, Semi and Daniel could be used in certain matchup situations.
Bottom line is that we do not have one guy on this team that is a 30 minute starter at PF or Center. That is not necessarily a bad thing because there are a lot of guys that can and should be used.
Some games some guys will not play but that is okay. Everyone is truly needed. As long as they are used to support our main 6 best players, the Celtics can be effective and very unpredictable.

Can't even think about this.
Football season and baseball playoffs first.

I'm about to embark on a long canoe trip in canada, leaving tomorrow and ought to be getting back to civilization around trading camp time. Very good timing! It's been a long summer, looming forward to some Celtics basketball!

Today is 9/27 and we are 3 days away from Media Day, 4 days to Camp and just 9 days, single digits, from the first pre-season game.
Very close to Celtics hoop.
