I was watching that game with my wife last night just hoping BKN would come up just a little bit short...that was close!

I have watched a few Miami Heat games and they really look good.  We never really talked about them being a top 4 team in the East but their play out of the gate has put them on the map.

The surprise player is ...Kendrick Nunn the G-leaguer who is leading the team in scoring.  Whaaaaaat?

Rookie Tyler Herro has been playing well.

Whiteside is gone and Bam Adebayo really looks great in the middle. 

Jimmy Buckets gives them the it factor.

It is still very early but from what I have seen the Heat are a top 4 team in the East.

Irving with a 20/11/10 triple double and they still lose in Detroit.

His 20 were on 8-21

The Nets are a case of subtraction by addition. Don't they have most of their scrappy, successful players from last year...plus Kyrie? They were better last year.

Kenneth Faried was one of the best free agents remaining on the market. The veteran forward averaged 12.9 points and 8.2 rebounds per game in a brief stint with the Houston Rockets last season, but he had struggled to find an NBA home for this season. Now, that won't be an issue. According to Emiliano Carchia of Sportando, Faried will be signing a $4.4 million deal with the Zhenjiang Lions, a team in the Chinese Basketball Association.

Faried is the first major American player to sign in China since Daryl Morey's controversial tweet about Hong Kong led to the Rockets being blacked out across the country and a number of sponsors pulling out of deals. That Faried last played in the NBA for Morey's Rockets adds a layer of intrigue to the move, though a number of NBA players sign in China every year. Jeremy Lin was the most notable player to do so when he joined the Beijing Ducks in the offseason. The CBA has very strict rules on the use of foreign players. Teams are only allowed to have two on their roster, and they are allowed to play on six combined quarters.

Still, China has become a popular pit stop for American players looking to eventually return to the NBA. The Chinese season ends before the NBA playoffs begin, so a number of players have played full seasons there before latching on with an NBA team prior to the postseason.

Faried, 29, could theoretically do that, depending on the as-of-yet known full details of his contract. It is unclear if the CBA will enact any policy changes on the front in light of Morey's comments, or how long Faried's contract is in the first place.


For now, the move removes a valuable player from the NBA free-agent pool, and allows Faried to make far more than he would have on a minimum-salary NBA deal. He could still return to the league, but at the moment, he is off of the table for forward-needy teams.

I will start it off with I hope we don't regret not drafting Brandon Clarke. That kid can play.

I would like to turn on one sports show during the day that half the show isn't about the Lakers and Lebron. Ughhh. First Take has gotten so bad. I thought Max would be OK at the start but he has turned into a real clown to go along with the original clown SAS.

Miami looks like they may actually be a pretty good team this year.

ROY may be wide open at this point. Some really good young players.

On a fresh note look who is Number 1 in the Eastern Conference, none other than our Boston Celtics!!!

undersized for a four, but he can play no doubt. just not an Ainge type of guy I guess.

Only one team in the NBA with a better record. The Lakers at 6-1.

Every other team has 2 losses or more.

When the Lakers begin to experience just the normal injury schedule to its main starters like the rest of the league with us always leading the catastrophe list, let's talk. Much rather have them enjoying the ride early in the season that late and in the playoffs.

Kuzma missed the first 4 games and missed all of pre-season and training camp.
Rondo has not played this season.
Avery Bradley missed the last game. Their defense is not the same without Avery on the court.
No, Lebron and AD have not missed any games yet.
They also haven't chosen to participate in load management like Kawhi has for two games out of eight, which have resulted in two losses for the Clippers.
The Lakers have an easy schedule through November.
They should have a great record going into December and then the real tests start.

As an FYI, the Lakers players missed 202 games due to injury last season, compared to 118 for Boston.
All of Boston's top 8 players last year played at least 67 games.
Many of those missed games due to injuries were to the Lakers top players:
Lebron 27 games missed
Kuzma 12
Ingram 30
Ball 35
Rondo 36

Load management. This really bothers me. The fact that they can rest on off days instead of practicing. All the "experts" all point to Leonard and how it works. They fail to mention all the seasons that the great players played most of the games without Load Management. These guys make more money in one game that most people make in 10-20 years.

Flotsam and Jetsam is a catch all thread.  But this is entirely up to Bob.

I could bring back my Odds and Ends thread - same concept but sometimes a poster may feel the need to start a new thread on a particular subject.

I live in Jersey and root for the Nets as many of you know, I love Lavert and Harris is good too. They were a playoff team that shared the ball with DeAngelo Russell, we’ll see if Kyrie’s flash and petulance works, I would have kept DR.

The conversation around Wednesday’s Milwaukee Bucks-Los Angeles Clippers game focused on Kawhi Leonard sitting for load management.

But we really need to talk about Eric Bledsoe.

The Bucks point guard had a big game with 20 points and six rebounds in the 129-124 Milwaukee victory. But no play was bigger than this one.


Wait, I have to pass?

With around 10 minutes left in the game, Bledsoe was tasked with inbounding the ball. He decided against the traditional in-bounds method of passing the ball in, opting instead to dribble from the sideline when handed the ball by an official.

That, of course, was not a legal decision. Bledsoe was charged with a turnover on the play as the Bucks held a 101-94 lead.

But don’t worry, Bledsoe fans. He made up for the blooper with one of the the most successful flops of the season with this absurd sales job on a Lou Williams drive.



Clippers coach Doc Rivers challenged the call of an offensive foul. Officials somehow didn’t see enough to overturn the foul, which stood as called on the court.

Rivers immediately empathized with every NFL coach who’s challenged pass interference this season.
