Re: Flotsam and Jetsam Around the League 2019-2020
Age is one part of the injury factor. Probably not a big factor.
Look at what has happened to Portland this year.
Nurkik 25, recovering from a major knee injury. Has not played this year.
Collins 22, expected to miss 4 months.
Labasierre 23, recent knee injury. No timetable yet for how long he will be out.
Hood 27, Achilles tear out for the year.
None of these guys are old or have played a lot of minutes in the NBA.

However if I was a Laker fan I would be more concerned with injuries to a lot of 30+ year old guys and those guys that seem to get nicked up a lot.
dboss,
Pursuant to your post above, as of playoff time:
Player.......................Age as of playoffs........mpg..............ppg
LeBron James .......... 35.............................35.0.............25.1
Danny Green.............32 (33 in June)............25.4.............8.3
Rajon Rondo..............34.............................21.5.............7.7
Dwight Howard..........34.............................19.6.............7.1
Javale McGee.............32............................16.4..............7.0
5 of the Lakers' top 10 players, mpg-wise, are over 30 and consume 117.9 of the total 240 available minutes in a regulation game. That's 49%. They also account for 55.2 of the top 10 players' 116.9 points. They are responsible for 47% of the points.

That’s all true, but in the case of Kobe and Bird, Father Time just caught up with them, and was exasperated by their playing styles and volume of minutes. Father Time never loses ever....

You can speculate all you want about the roster makeup now - but the reality is that we should wait until playoff time to find out which clubs WILL have the best teams on the floor.

Father Time will eventually win out over LeBron, but it doesn’t look like it will happen this year.

Swish with the wisdom that age renders once again.

Nice sleeper game tonight that may give us 2 games in the loss column if the Raptors can repeat on the road what they somehow managed to do to us recently.
Also just noticed that G2 of the next B2B is against PHI @ PHI. Who makes out these effing schedules against the Celtics ALL the time?!! That should give PHI the series. 0-3. You're welcome.

Two most age vulnerable high end teams in the NBA are the Bucks and the Lakers.

Raptors lost to Miami last night. We can't shake Miami. They are right on our tail and we are entering a very tough stretch of scheduling now.
Let's ball!!

Celts still playing .750 ball projected win total 61.5
Still long way to go but the demise of the Celtics was clearly exaggerated.

Re: Flotsam and Jetsam Around the League 2019-2020
We are deep enough that if a Tatum is off or someone else we can still win, with Sixers they have no depth. Embid, Harris and Simmons all had good enough games, with Simmons actually having a great game, Al didn’t do much, Richardson way off and Embid and Scott 0-7 from 3, against us last game those 2 on fire from 3. Who on their bench ever steps up, Scott once in awhile and if his shot is off, what does he give you? Harden was scintillating, they had no answer, I want to see how he does against Smart, Brown and Tatum....

The Clippers just gave up 140 points at home to Memphis.
Memphis is a good young team who could challenge for the 8th playoff spot in the west.

Kevin Love would probably like that trade to happen soon, please.
The Cleveland Cavaliers big man made his displeasure over his team’s direction with “an emotional verbal outburst toward general manager Koby Altman” during shootaround on Saturday, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Love was reportedly screaming in front of his teammates and coaches that there was “no feel here” and expressed his disgust with the organization. Love denied the story late Saturday night, calling the matter “a lot of non truths being shared.”
Love still started Saturday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. More eyebrows were raised in the second quarter when he became visibly frustrated as point guard Collin Sexton dribbled the ball at halfcourt for more than 10 seconds despite Love having a mismatch against Chris Paul.

Kevin Love’s frustration with Cavs
Saturday’s screaming was reportedly the latest development in Love’s growing frustration with the rebuilding Cavaliers since signing a four-year, $120 million extension with the team in 2018.
He was reportedly fined $1,000 by the team for an incident on the bench on Dec. 31 against the Raptors, and disagreed with the fine. Love was caught on video slapping chairs amid a blowout, and reportedly asked a Cavaliers coach to take him out of the game.

The reported source of Love’s frustration: How selfish the first unit was playing, per The Athletic. Love is second on the team in assists per game with 2.9, just behind rookie point guard Darius Garland’s 3.1 and ahead of Sexton’s 2.3.
Love also reportedly had quite a moment with Allard last year:
At the end of last season, Love raised his voice toward the general manager and Altman threatened to fine him. Sources said they heard Love say, “Go ahead. I have plenty of money.”
Love remains one of the most notable names on the trade market this season, and the Cavaliers are reportedly ready to listen to offers for the veteran. However, Love’s contract could be a significant obstacle for those efforts.

MY NOTE: Poor Kevin Love. He wanted out of Minny because he didn't want to be the only guy with talent, so he got traded to Cleveland. He thought he was in heaven because he was playing with Kyrie and LeBron and he won a championship, what he dreamed of in Minny, and then it blew itself apart and there was nothing he could do to stop it. Now he's living in Hell, aka "The Mistake On The Lake" and he's in worse shape, physically and team-wise, than he was in Minny.

Cow,
Yeah, right...like you'd turn down an NBA max contract...
And remember: when he signed the contract LeBron and Kyrie were still there and nobody thought they were going to leave.
Max contract, a championship ring and a team that was young enough to compete for more. Why would he leave?

Bob,
Kevin signed his extension in late July, 2018.
Kyrie and LeBron were no longer with Cleveland.
Kevin knew they were rebuilding.
He re-signed for the money.
