Re: Flotsam and Jetsam Around the League 2019-2020
Just noticed something. We are the only team that has played only 37 games so far this season. There are a few at 38. The rest range from 39-42 (Charlotte). Just FYI.

Ja Morant with the 3 with Harden backing off him at the arc to go up 9 with 2 left, and then ran up court yelling about Harden, "Tell that M----er F---er about me!".
Ok, a little brash, more than a little rude, but it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy than The Flopmeister.
Unfortunately, it's a Pyrrhic Victory for us. Memphis winning moved them into 8th spot in the WC, which means their first round pick, which we own, would convey this year and would not be a lottery pick if the season ended today.
Trade the pick, Danny. At least kick it down the road for a future draft pick of a team that might be heading south due to age and/or a rebuild. We don't need another #16. We've got Langford and GWill to develop and we're young enough already. Maybe TOO young.

Memphis is playing some pretty good basketball right now.
They have won 6 in a row and 7 out of 8.
Their only loss in the last 8 games was to Sacramento.
In that game Memphis blew a 20 point lead.
Memphis currently owns the tie breaker with San Antonio.
Making the playoffs after waiving Dwight, Avery Bradley and Iguodala not with the team would be a great achievement for a young team.

Kyrie doing his thing against Sixers, -29 plus minus for the game. Close game in 4th quarter and Kyrie starts shooting everytime and dominating the ball and the game gets away. Looked all too familiar. Took him 21 shots to get 14 points. Maybe he needs to get his surgery and save the Nets season.

Philly, Toronto and Miami all won yesterday.
We are now in 3rd, 1/2 game behind Miami. We have a 2 games in the loss column lead over Toronto and a 4 game lead over Philly, who are in 6th place. Indy a 1/2 game of Philly for 5th.
Markelle Fultz beat LA, in LA, with 21 points on 9-19. ZERO 3pt fgas. How rare is that?! Aaron Gordon with 21 also. Davis did not play, which might have been why Gordon had such a good game. Lakers with 11 ftas and Orlando with 29. Wes Iwundu (who?) 8-10 from the line. 16 more points from the line for Orlando.

Fultz was surprising effective last night.
He's herky jerky and plays below the rim, but is surprisingly crafty near the basket.
Last night was a weird game that the Lakers deserved to lose.
They got down by 20, then cut the lead to 4.
Then they got down by 21, then took the lead.
The Lakers had so many shots that were half way down and came out and they missed two open dunks.
It seems like LA and Boston were both looking ahead to their next games.

Embiid could be in the running for the 2020 Robert Williams Perennial Wounded Duck Award.

Cow,
Instead of Time Lord we should call him Time Load (Management).
I understand injuries, (not Time as well as Time) Lord knows Romeo has had them, but this whole "we're not sure what the problem is and because we cannot diagnose the cause we cannot fix it" bothers the Hell out of me. The unknown of Time Lord's time off scares me. At least with Romeo we knew it was a tendon in his shooting thumb that could be fixed with surgery, a thigh bruise that needed rest, a sprained wrist. All identifiable, all correctable, all "one-off", non-chronic stuff.

He was diagnosed with a bone edema in his left hip. As you may recall he had several hard falls where he landed on his hip. Not sure if that would have caused the fluid buildup and recent reports indicate that he is now pain free but Boston does not want him to rush back.
He has to get back into playing shape and I think he will. If we see a report that indicates he is being shut down for the season my cause for alarm would be heightened.

Kawhi put on a clinic today with 39 points, his usual stifling defense, 5 th straight game of 30plus points. If you have the ball at end of game with seconds to score he’s got to be the leagues best on the ball defender in that situation. Exact same ending as when he blocked Kemba’s shot with us, this time he just bothered the guys shooting hand, but you knew he had no chance. Why would they go to any offensive player with Kawhi on him...???? You’ve got to have a counter, if he’s on the guy, go elsewhere, you gave 4 other players.

I think the Nets are a lot worse with Kyrie, it’s obvious

Funny , I preached this last year for the Celtics and got all sorts of backlash. Of course when Kyrie gets Durant it will start working right for them. Kyrie is a number two on a team. Ugh I guess that could mean a couple of things.

Ah yes, the never ending Kyrie saga. I wish it would end.
The one thing we haven't discussed here is the lesson for young athletes.
I don't think anyone can make a good argument that Kyrie is not one of the top 10 players in the game right now. I'd go down the road that he could be among the most skilled guards the game has ever seen.
He's also got to be in the discussion as among the worst values in the league at this time.
Top talent. Terrible value?
I think Irving is a fantastic example for talented young young athletes everywhere. Of what not to do. His skills are off the charts, but the way he thinks and works as a teammate is downright toxic.
And it's a shame. Basketball fans will probably be denied the chance to watch a nearly once-in-a-generation player. By the player himself.
Attitude. Your high-school coach was right.

I live in Jersey, I see all these pundits saying Spencer Dinwiddie was playing at a borderline all star level, as soon as Kyrie came back, that stopped....there’s more even Steven A has noted how toxic Kyries comments have been as soon as he came back.

Re: Flotsam and Jetsam Around the League 2019-2020
Watched the Lakers-Nets game last night. The Lakers winning is no shocker, they are an elite team and the Nets are mediocre at best, and DeAndre Jordan didn't suit up. What I watched was how Kyrie "lead" his team. I cannot imagine worse facial expressions and body language from a team leader. He's the same there as here. I wasn't impressed with his game either. A lot of bad decision making from him, but it was his trying to tell his teammates it's their fault he threw the ball away because they weren't where he thought they'd be that drove me nuts.
Neither team played defense worth a shit. The Lakers were marginally better, but only marginally. The Net perimeter defense was so porous it was ridiculous. Even if Jordan had played the Laker penetrators still would have had a passing field day. And the Net spacing was awful.
You know the old expressions "you don't know what you have until it's gone"? In this case we know and it's made clear everyday with the difference between Kemba and Kyrie. Same level of talent? Probably not, but I'll bet if you asked any knowledgeable fan who they'd rather have on their team right now they'd pick Kemba.
Sorry. I know we have moved on from him on this board but I've been gone for 6 weeks and my first game back I saw him do his little prima donna crap and it really rubbed me raw.

I watched some of the Lakers vs Nets game. During a quick break on the floor Joe Harris came up to Kyrie to discuss or suggest something. Kyrie quickly snapped his head away from Harris and walked away as if Harris wasn’t there. Harris literally was standing there scratching his head!
I could not believe what I saw. Oh wait a second, yes I could believe it.

I see the Nets at times too, Lavert doesn’t seem to be same player he was, maybe he still needs more time coming back from his injury. When healthy the difference between him and 2 J’s was he could never defend at their level. Kyrie is only going to get more injury prone, more inefficient, and more annoying, but on occasion will have a 30 point game....so glad we got rid of him.
