Since 1967 the NBA Coach of the Year Trophy is called 'Red Auerbach Trophy', named that way after the former Boston Celtics coach who led the his team to 9 NBA titles.

1966-67 - Johnny Kerr, Chicago Bulls
1967-68 - Richie Guerin, St. Louis Hawks

Question: Did they rename it in time for Johnny Kerr to win it or was it renamed after, so Richie Guerin won the first?

Yeah, for that one I get more credit for being first than for being right. Tiny also had another nickname that El Paso and KC-Omaha writers sometimes used, “Nate the Skate”.
