Pre-Game 1 vs. Nets
I've had a lot of time to think about this. The Celtics have created some time for themselves to get ready for this series by winning the first night out of the play-in. Here's what I want to see.
Chaos. Defense creates chaos for the opposition. Brooklyn has no defense. We know what we are capable of. As a matter of fact, I don't care if we score zero points, I just want to see Boston lock this bunch of scoring machines up so much that BKN doesn't know if they are coming or going. I don't care if we wear ourselves out playing defense, but BKN is going to learn the hard way just like all offensively stacked team in the past that just because you can score doesn't hold water in the playoffs. Just because your Big 3 have been in and out of the line up all season does not mean you can just turn it on come playoff time and you can tap dance to the Finals. And especially, and it will come down to this, when you have a 1st year ever coach in the playoffs, SN is going to blow this up himself at some point. He's got Mike D on the bench with him but he's come up short too many times to count.
So what do you have BKN? 3 untested prima donnas? What do we have? What can we do to BKN? Get them in foul trouble. Wear their legs out chasing us. Turn up the defense like no one's business. Like Kemba or not, but he plays defense and takes charges like...now get this...Marcus Smart. He knows exactly where to stand and place his feet and gets us at least 2-3 charges called on the man guarding him every game. And he can score a ton if needed. Finally he's going to be playing every game. No more games off or back to backs. That's all the rest he gets. This is his time. I like what I see.
We've made it to the conference finals before with less than what we have on the court suiting up as of today. What we need to create is an atmosphere of fear and total chaos that they can't even get the ball over half court until it's almost a backcourt violation. Nobody ever uses that strategy. They don't have to do it the whole game. Just in short, all out bursts to totally disrupt any series of plays wet behind the ears Steve Nash has called.
I want to see looks of total desperation on the faces of the whole BKN organization as this series slowly, insidiously slips away as The Beard, Flat Earther and KD watch what could have been runs through their entitled hands like a greased pig. No team has ever won anything in the playoffs without defense. BKN has none. They will not win. I give them to the 2nd round MAX before the wheels come off. All one team has to do is play about a half a game of good defense and these clowns will fold up like a lawn chair and will never be heard from again.
Also it's time for my all-time favorite "no lay up" rule. I know it usually only last for the first play or two of the first game of the series, but we need to strike first. And we may be able to get away with it without fouling with RWIII out there.
Send a message. I don't have time for any post game interviews saying we didn't come out with enough energy or emotion, dug ourselves a huge whole and never got back into the game. I've seen enough of that the last month. I want to here, "Well, we focused so much on defense we only scored 2 points the whole game, but Brooklyn got so rattled and $#^*$%^ the bed, they couldn't even score a single basket the whole game." Let me hear something like that.
This BKN team is built on wet paper towels standing over Niagara Falls. And guess what happens EVERY SINGLE TIME in the playoffs? You get exposed. And for BKN, this is going to be the biggest, embarrassing, money spent spiraling out of control reveal of all time.
Again, I ain't asking for much.
Go Celtics!!

Re: Pre-Game 1 vs. Nets
I already mentioned how much I miss seeing Jaylen in these games as he is a 2 way player, multiple position defender and explosive skilled scorer and shooter. I would cover Durant with Tatum and every fan will be having a blast seeing that match up, this series could be a coming out party for Tatum. He knows he has to carry us and Nets don’t have any lockdown type defenders. Smart, Brown and Tatum are better defenders than Kyrie, Harden and Durant. Plus we have up and coming energetic defenders in Romeo and Nesmith.
The key is our outside shooters have to be on, they have had moments, but really need Frenchy, Nesmith, PP all to be as on as much as possible, besides Tatum and Kemba. However the key is still defense and BS came up with a great game plan against Wizards, we will have to put Kemba on Joe Harris and see some minutes for Romeo and Nesmith helping Smart keep up with Kyrie and Harden. We may be able to steal a game here or there and make this series a dog fight.

db,
From your mouth into God's ear.
Please make it happen, Celtics. It's the only chance we have. Defense, defense, defense!
