MY NOTE: 26 years old. 6''9", 218#, 7'7" wingspan. He was the #20 pick in the 2014 draft and has played 7 seasons. Averaged 12.3mpg career, but only 2 seasons >10mpg (10mpg with Sacto 2017-2018 and 23.5mpg with Memphis in 2018-2019). His high water mark, minutes-wise, was 800 minutes with Memphis. When you play a total of 1293 minutes in 7 seasons and 800 of them are in a single season I am not impressed. Neither a center nor a needle-mover, imo, and therefore nobody I particularly care about. His 7'7" wingspan should make him an excellent defender but he's average. He's Brazilian. They're usually pretty tough hombres ('homem' in Portuguese). We'll see.
I'm looking for size and beef, someone who can replace Theis. Caboclo is roughly the same height, has a ridiculously longer wingspan (7'7" vs 7'), but weighs 27# less (218 vs 245). A little more perspective, Robert Williams is 6'8", maybe even an inch shorter than Caboclo, has a 7'5" wingspan and is in the conversation for next year's DPOY. Caboclo has averaged only 1.6 blocks per 36 mpg career but can't get on the court to prove it's a solid stat. The Time Lord is averaging 3.1 blocks per 36 mpg and is now playing the minutes to back that extrapolation up.

I viewed several highlight videos to see who this guy is.
I do not know if he is a center or a wing. He was underweight to play in the middle at 218# but is now up to 225. He looks like a stretch 5 because he can make the 3 ball but also has big hops and plays above the rim. His 7' 7" wingspan enhances his ability to block shots.
Overall I can see why the Celtics want to give him a shot in training camp. He looks like a very interesting prospect but he has play in the NBA but has not carved out a niche.

DBoss,
He strikes me as a tweener, and we know how blind I am to those!
At 6'8" he's not really tall enough to play center.
At 225# he's really not heavy enough to play in the low blocks.
As a 31% career 3pt shooter he's not really a wing. Can't open the floor with his shooting.
We need some beef, otherwise we're going to get bullied, and we have none (Kabengele is beef, but he's not going to be a major contributor).

bob highlights only show shots going in. Good catch on the 31% figure.
I guess I am less concerned about who our 3rd string center will be.
We may not see the 2 big lineup as much this year which means Rob and Al may rotate more into and out of a lineup for each.
The Celtics went out and added guard/forward/wing depth. That tells me we are going to see more single center lineups and more 5 out offensive sets. The 3rd string center may play a minor role and log DNP's along way.
