Funny story from Sam Jones.
Career preservation; I'd stay away from Wilt too.
I agree with BobC, this is a great thread.

For some reason this site is suddenly not allowing me to post pictures right about now and i’m quite furious and outdone. soooo I decided to pull Tommy out of the archives and post one of his best scathing attacks on the officials.
Tommy, Just how pissed are you (we)?
:40 in. Tommy goes TH OFF!

Despite his winning 2 titles with our Celts, Paul Silas’ value was considered by some, underrated and unappreciated.
Nobody’s perfect. Not even our own beloved Red Auerbach who, after winning the title in 76, traded Silas to the Denver Nuggets after a Salary dispute.
After one season with the Nuggets (76-77), Paul
was traded to the Seattle SuperSonics where, even with his naysayers, his value was validated.
He played an important role with Seattle as an enforcer, and the SuperSonics reached the championship series in both 1978 and 1979 with Silas, winning an NBA title in 1979 in five games in a rematch against the Washington Bullets.
L-R JoJo, Sikma, Marvin Barnes, Silas and Max….

The Celtics rebuilt after most of the Russell guys retired and Red drafted Jo Jo and Dave Cowens.
However it was not until Red added Silas that the Celtics become a contender. He was 'the piece'

Ktron,
It seems you were finally allowed to post pictures.
I didn't get any reports of an issue, but sometimes this place is glitchy.
I'm glad it worked out for you.
BTW, this is a fun thread. Thanks.

Gyso,
Thanks!
It may have been on my end.
The site was asking for my password which I couldn’t remember. Lol.
It afforded me a new password and started working again.
Problem solved I hope…
Son of a glitches! Lol

Silas was never under appreciated by me. Loved his game and all the toughness be brought. What a mistake, getting rid of Silas, I think with him, we get by Sixers in 77. He still had alot left and Cowens never goes on his sabbatical.

Re: The Names You’ll Always Remember & The Games You’ll Never Forget….
Back in the 60’s, The Bulova game clock above hung from the ceiling of the old Boston Garden.
This identical clock also was used inside the old Chicago Stadium, once home to the Zephyrs and the Bulls.
The big circle in the middle kept track of the game time.
The time was so hard to decipher that the 2 minute quarter ending warnings and the 24 Second clocks that sat on the floor in the 4 corners off court was the only sure way to have any idea of time remaining.
There was one other major shortcoming oddity that handicapped this wonderful time piece from displaying correct information and time.
Do any of you Celtsaholics know what that oddity was?
Raise your hand if you do.
First one with the right answers gets acknowledged as the first one with the right answer cuz there ain’t no prizes to be had.
Ready, set….GO!

Agree. Paul Silas was a winner. They finally inducted him into the College Hall of Fame in 2017.

Bob C,
Holllld up. Wait a minute.
Since it appears that you at least made an effort to figure this dang thang out, you get to keep your card.
No rehab.
It’s going to be way too crowded up in there with all the Forum folks who claim to be celtics fans but are unable to read a Bulova clock that hung for years from the rafters.
I can’t say yall are clueless because I did give a clue.
I guess that means y'all are worse than clueless.
Okay EX-Celtsaholics, here’s the answer.
As you can hear in the clip there were 5 seconds left and Boston had a one point lead. The actual score was 110-109. However, the clock read:
Visitors- :09 - :10 Home. Why??
Because the clock was only equipped to read out 2 digits on each side.
Therefore once the scores got as high as 99, the clock would resort back to 00.
Comprende’? Understood?…..
Ok. lm moving on. But one last thing……
Ktron the DJ flashback bonus trivia question and answer because y’all wont get this either:
The lead singer of this monster disco hit from the 70-‘s is Shirley Goodman, who was one half of Shirley and Lee, who had enjoyed a major hit 18 years earlier, in 1956, with the song "Let The Good Times Roll" for Aladdin Records. The male vocalist is Jesus Alvarez.
This song is dedicated to everyone here except (yeah u2 Dboss) Bob C.
“Shame Shame Shame Shame Shame…Shame on you”

I get to keep my card!
I’m guessing the scoreboard was made with the Bruins in mind. Nobody was going to score more than 99 goals in a game…….wait did Gretzky ever do it?

Okay one final kick in the gut for everyone here (cept Bob C) that couldn’t figure out the answer to the Bulova Clock dilemma.
Y’all can take turns, come up with pregame rotations or start a drawing or lottery (oops, we’ll have none of that) or whatever.
Anyway..here’s your seat for the upcoming 23-24 season. Enjoy.

During the Bird years I worked downtown. We would frequently go to the box office and buy these or similar obstructed view seats which were available even when the game was “sold out.” If we could see most of the court we sat there; if they were like the one pictured we’d go to the balcony standing room only at mid court. Man that balcony was cool!
