BaronV,
Good point.
If the vote was like the season MVP, there would have been ranked picks for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, with the winner and runners-up showing up in the final tally. Holiday's name would surely have shown up there.
Instead, it is a simple one vote deal. Good thing there were an odd number of voters, otherwise it could have been a tie. With the one trophy, who would get to keep it?

Heaves pretty much tell the story of Game 5 so far. First quarter: Mavs get rebound with 4 seconds left, don't attempt one Second quarter: Celtics legitimately have a heave specialist enter the game with 4 seconds left in second quarter to take one. Mavs left him unmarked.

Jrue Holiday said one of the ultimate goals this season was getting Al Horford a championship. Holiday said he’d run through a brick wall for Horford.

Jaylen Brown promised to go to war for the city of Boston after getting booed on draft night. He's the 2024 Finals MVP. Sports are kinda beautiful sometimes, man.

In the middle of his 16-4-9 first half, another milestone for Jayson Tatum. Only five players in Celtics history (Larry Bird, John Havlicek, Kevin McHale, Sam Jones and Paul Pierce) have now scored more playoff points.

A sarcastic "we want Boston" is the chant from the TD Garden balcony,
MY NOTE: LOL. Celtic fans gotta be Celtic fans.

Agreed.
While I think Brown was a deserving winner, Holiday was #1a and close in my opinion.
Tatum contributed more in games 1 - 4 than most people realize, even if his scoring was off. Still, in my opinion, his huge game 5 didn't do enough that I would give him an MVP vote. Not over Brown and Holiday. Tatum was an important part of a team victory, but I can't see why he rates any MVP consideration. No more than White, IMO, anyway.

Yeah. I think Tatum was certainly valuable in that he used the attention the other team was playing to the probability that he'd go off on them to focus on facilitation and such. But as you said, you could make that argument for White, etc. as well. I guess it's the superstar factor. Fans want to see one of the superstars get that award, not a member of the supporting cast.

Huh. Surprised Holliday didn't get at least one vote. It would be easy to argue his impact was crucial to winning multiple games.

Celtics held Mavs under 100 points in all 4 wins.

Love this shirt!!!
Been waiting and waiting for us to win, so now our main guys that we have seen grow every year since they entered the league can now be immortalized by us fans in their era and can now be legitimately worthy in any conversations with the past championship players of our franchise. Now the best of this crew, Tatum and Brown have earned acceptance in any all time Celtics team conversations, now that they have won. You can start with Russell, Cousy, Tommy, Sam, Hondo, Cowens, JoJo, Larry, McHale, Parish, Walton, DJ, Pierce, KG, Rondo, Ray…..now we can legitimately add Tatum and Brown there in any conversation in what they could add playing with say Russell, KG, Bird, Havlicek, they earned it. So many champions and great players on this franchise.
Hope you enjoyed last night Mr Cousy!!!

My apologies once again for ever doubting Sam Hauser. He came through when it counted - in the NBA Finals.
