Projected 2024-2025 Season Wins for Celtics

The roster is basically set, except for #15 who won't play much anyway.  Free agency is past; there will be some trades but the meat-and-potatoes of most rosters are set.  I expect there won't be any blockbuster trades until we get closer to the trade deadline on February 6, 2025.


ESPN just came out with a projection for Celtic wins.  It's the highest number for any team.  It's 58.5 wins because, you know, Vegas doesn't like pushes so they do the "half-y" thing so you have to pick over or under and win or lose.

Reminder for those with short-term memory loss we won 64 games last year.  The next highest win total was OKC and Denver who tied with 57 wins.


Multiple choice is not allowed.  Pick a number, dammit.

Vote Cancelling is allowed.  So if there are trades, by Brad or by some other team, that strengthens or weakens our position at the top you can change your projection.


The #10, and final Play-in spot, last year was Atlanta with 36 wins.  So I just said that any number of wins that doesn't give us a chance to repeat doesn't matter.

I am the chicken who would not go to 60 plus. With KP out for ??? I see a slower start this year, especially since Tatum, White and Holiday will have a much shorter break. It has nothing to do with talent, I am hoping someone comes on strong that we do not expect! (Queta?)

I went with 52 but I still believe that they will have the best record in the Eastern Conference. Zinger missing who knows how many games, our trio of Olympians playing virtually year round and the “load mgmt” that will come with it plus the improvement of the Sixers, Knicks, and Pacers will give us some losses as will being the hunted instead of the hunter.

Will, i believe you may be low, but your thinking is on target. There is going to be a lot more competition from teams this year, NY, Indy, even Orlando. That is not even counting west coast, but I do believe this is one talented team, barring any other major injuries, we should be able to hold our ground until KP returns. Hope I am not being the eternal optimist!!!!

I went with 64.

It's about the foundation and the structure above.

Boston:

Foundation: The two Js. They both bring strong play on both ends and they both have the best ability of all: Availability.

Structure: Holiday and White. They also bring strong play on both ends and they both include Availability. They both have the ability to adjust to need and provide whatever it takes to win.

Additional Structure: Horford, Tillman, Luke, Queta while waiting for Porzingis (he's upstairs ATM). Mix and match, depending on opponent and in-game adjustments.

Even More Structure: Hauser and Pritchard. Playoff-tested scoring and energy off the bench.

Waiting in the Penthouse: Porzingis.

No team in the East has a building like ours that can withstand the regular season grind, and with a little luck health-wise, can hit that extra gear come playoff time.

I love your optimism Rosie, and I hope I’m anywhere from 10-15 games wrong. Barring injury to a key core player we should be hanging banner #19 next June.

Kinda tough to project at this point, but I went with 60. I am assuming KP will come back healthy, but I figure they may lose a few early in the season with KP out and trying to rest Al and the three guys that are playing now in the Olympics.

One of my projected wins comes from the IST.  We win that this season and there is an extra regular season game (83) from playing in the IST finals.
