Not so the new Lakers coach who dropped two F bombs in his introductory press conference. is this what they teach at Duke? C'mon man. JJ, you can represent your organization better than that. Oh wait, maybe you are representing the Lakers accurately. My bad.

What can you say Worcester, he is bought and sold by LeBron. Will be pushed around for 6 months at the most and then go the way of Adrian Griffith. They are all in search of the next Brad Stevens. Looks like they went down the wrong hole.

Exactly Rosalie. I forgot to mention the Celtics players too as being CLASSY. What a phenomenal group of guys. Not a hint of scandal all year from this group. Great examples for America's youth.

Brad Stevens says Kristaps Porziņģis will have surgery soon and they will have a timeline for recovery from there. He is still consulting with doctors on the treatment plan. He will miss the Olympics because he needs surgery now to be able to recover back to playing condition.

The Celtics center gutted out Game 5 of the Finals, but will not be able to represent his home country of Latvia this summer.

After injuring himself in Game 2 of the NBA Finals, Kristaps Porzingis will reportedly have surgery on his foot that will sideline him for the Olympics, according to the team. The Latvian star missed Games 3 and 4 of the Celtics series against the Dallas Mavericks, but played sparingly in Boston’s closeout Game 5 at TD Garden.

Porzingis suffered a torn retinaculum and dislocated posterior tibialis tendon on June 9th. With the season now over and the Celtics hoisting Banner 18, the big man is consulting doctors and specialists before going under the knife, per Brad Stevens.

”Kristaps is still in the middle of consulting with some different doctors and specialists, but we we anticipate surgery will be soon,” said Stevens on Tuesday. “We’ll have more of an update for timeline of recovery after the surgery, as usual.”



After acquiring the sharpshooting center from the Washington Wizards last offseason, Porzingis averaged 20.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2 assists over 57 games in the regular season as Boston won the top seed in the NBA. Due to a right calf strain and the eventual foot injury, the center was limited to just seven games on his way to his first NBA championship.

Following Game 5, Porzingis told ESPN’s Tim Bontemps that he would undergo surgery to repair his injured foot and expected to be in recovery for a ‘few months.’



The news is not unexpected, although it will make Latvia’s campaign to qualify for the Paris Olympics much harder without their biggest star on the court. Last April, Porzingis dealt with a bout of plantar fasciitis that sidelined him for the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

I'm with you, Rosalie.  Let's set the line at 6 months.  It will probably go up because they will hang on to their worst management decisions way past the expiration date like they have with the real problem Rob Kerplunka.  (Actually, the Lakers may be self-fulfilling my prophecy about their future by hanging on to him and not realizing he is the problem and is creating more misery for the Lakers with his every move.  Give Rob an extension, I say!!)  I'm good with starting the JJ line to the trash heap at 6 months.  I wouldn't be surprised at this point if Rob wasn't a Celtic operative of Brad's that blossomed into what we have today in LOL-ville!!  And doing a damn good job at it I might add!!  Carry on, Rob!!  Keep up the great work!!

Many of us (me included) predicted Erik Spoelstra's early demise.  Many of our predictions didn't age well, he's still there! Bronny Sr. is a known coach-killa, but somehow Spo survived.  Would that make him the exception to the rule?

In this case it is the Lakers, so many of us hope for failure in all things when it comes to them.  Here's to hoping our new predictions bear fruit this time!

Joe Mazzulla adds former Fairmont State Assistant to Boston Celtics Staff

According to God Shammgod Sr, via Instagram, God Shammgod Jr. will be joining the Boston Celtics coaching staff as a player development coach, under Head Coach Joe Mazzulla.

Shammgod Wells (God Shammgod Jr.) reunites with Joe Mazzulla after playing under him and working for him at Fairmont State University.

Wells was a four year starter at Fairmont State from 2013 to 2017 and helped lead the Falcons to three NCAA tournament appearances and a Division II National Championship berth in 2017.


Along with this, Wells is one of the most prolific players in Fairmont State history as he still holds the record for most career assists (569) and steals (237).

In the 2019-19 season he came back to FSU, joining Mazzulla’s staff as an offensive assistant and helped lead that team to a 22-9 overall record and a NCAA Atlantic Region Championship.

Wells, a native of Providence, RI will join forces with the newly crowned NBA Finals Champion Boston Celtics and continue his coaching journey with currently the best coach in the NBA, Joe Mazzulla.

Luke Kornet has agreed to a one-year deal with the Celtics, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Kornet bounced back during his second full season with the Celtics in 2023-24, averaging 5.3 points and 4.1 rebounds in 15.6 minutes per game over 63 regular-season appearances. The 28-year-old will remain with the Celtics for the 2024-25 campaign and will likely play a similar role while mainly coming off the bench.

No fooling around, he was the first one to sign in free agency, must like it here!!!!! How many years does he have in the league? Luke is the kind of guy who will end up working for the Celtics when he retires

Thanks BobH. We all have to get up pretty early to scoop you. You and gyso are definitely our “fountains of information” on the forum.

That is one loaded, and expensive, roster. Should be good for another serious run, even with Porzingis out part or all of next season.

The following season some of the core will need to go, that’s the financial reality. Unless, of course, owners are willing to spend a new record sum for the tax penalty. Other teams will face the same limitations, so it doesn’t have to spell the end of the run by any means.

I was pleasantly surprised they were able to bring back Tillman. Along with Kornet and Queta, there are some bigs that have shown they can be a formidable group when used in combination, especially on defense.

Sometimes the good stuff costs a few bucks.

A couple things about the Kornet signing:

1. When a player has been in the NBA for three or more seasons, and is playing under a one-year, 10-day or Rest-of-Season contract at the minimum salary, the league reimburses the team for part of his salary -- any amount above the minimum salary for a two-year veteran.

He's getting paid like a 7-8 year vet, but he is only costing us like a 2-year vet.  That saves some money with all the penalties, etc.


2. There are two additional circumstances in which a trade requires the player's consent: (My comment: only the first one counts here)

When the player is playing under a one-year contract (excluding any option year) and will have Larry Bird or Early Bird rights at the end of the season.

That's the rule that produced the no trade clause.  Brad didn't give him the no trade (he cannot); it is built into the cap rules.

My comment:  I still think he could have made much more money than the minimum.  He chose to stay and make less, which makes him very rare in the NBA world.

Jaylen got his ring back from a guy named Luke.  I saw the video.  He gave him an envelop and told him he would see him courtside at the ceremony.  He also gave him a signed basketball and Jaylen #7 jersey signed and then he took a picture with them.  A young lady named Adi was with Luke.
