Anthony Davis & Henry Sims
Hey Folks! Is there any way Danny Ainge can prove his worth as a Basketball personnel guru and maneuver the Celtics into off seasn acquisitions of Anthony Davis from Kentucky and Henry Sims from Georgetown? That would youth-orient our fron court and give us youth and length to match any team including LA & OKC. The return of Jeff Green to good health would solidify the back up SF position and allow Pierce more rest. Rondo could REALLY kick that fast break into overdrive! In that case, who cares where Dwight Howard goes!

MD, do you realize that Anthony Davis is being discussed as the first overall pick? How exactly is Ainge supposed to pull this off?

I'll bet Red would know how to pull it off!

I don't think there was any seriousness to MD's post.

I was serious. If Red Auerbach could get Kevin McHale and Robert Parrish for Joe Barry Carroll. Danny should find this a piece of cake. It might be marble cake, but cake nevertheless.

Re: Anthony Davis & Henry Sims
Anthony Davis is almost guaranteed to be the #1 pick in the 2012 draft.
One or more of the following three things would have to happen to get him.
1) Boston would have to miss the playoffs and be in the lottery.
2) If Boston is in the lottery and is projected to pick 13th or 14th, they have less then a 1% chance of getting the #1 pick.
3) Boston could somehow acquire a lottery pick. Seeing how this backfired with the Clippers trading away their pick in 2011 to dump salary, I doubt any team makes a move like that again. Their pick turned out to be the #1 pick.

Well it could happen. The year the Celts got Pierce, the lottery was supposed to be in Boston's favor to get Tim Duncan, and that fizzled. Pierce has had a great career no mistake, but the "Big Fundamental" was a franchise changer.

Getting the #1 pick is often due to chance and luck, not a GM outsmarting other GM's or manuevering to get the top pick.

1% is pretty good chance if you got the right guy picking the balls/envelope
