Ettore Messina: 'Shved, Kirilenko, Krstic will leave CSKA Moscow'
The Italian coach just signed back in Moscow with CSKA
Ettore Messina talked to Gazzetta.it during the Coach Clinic Giovanni Papini. The Italian coach, who signed in CSKA Moscow for the next three seasons, talked about his experience in the NBA with the Lakers and the future with the Russian powerhouse.
"When the news about our €44M budget came out, the management of CSKA Mosocw got mad. We will have one of the best budgets in Euroleague but not that amount. And we start the new season with the need of replacing four players: Nenad Krstic, Andrei Kirilenko, Alexey Shved and Ramunas Siskauskas (who retired). So we have to make some some cautios choices in the market. Erceg and Micov? Erceg is a modern PF who can play under the basket. We are targeting Vlado Micov. He is a versatile, high-profile player, we just need to now if he is able to adapt to a roster where the competitiveness is big. Euroleague? The Turkish teams, Barcelona, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Milano wll be our strongest opponents. Then Siena, who has a tradition in Europe, and the two clubs from Athens. Every year they cut the budget but they always fight for the final title" said Messina was impressed by Andrew Bynum's potential. "Andrew Bynum is the player for the future in Los Angeles. He can be dominant and he is working hard".

I don't know what it would take, but I would hope we would pursue him.
A rotation at center with KG, Krstic and Stiemsma (if we are able to retain him now that we've made a qualifying offer) would give us defense and scoring too. It does leave something to be desired in terms of rebounding, but overall sure isn't terrible.

No way with the 2 rooks and Steamer, JJJ and possibly Wilcox who looked a hell of alot better in his brief stay here last year, we just have too many pieces, and was unbearable watching his defense in the playoffs.
