Sam: Need Help on a Point of Interest!

Sam: Being an old Oriole fan from the 60's and 70's when they were relavent, I've always heard that Bill Russell and Frank Robinson were high school athletic teammates. Do you know if it was just basketball that they played on the same team, or other sports? Were Frank and Bill really tight, or just casual friends due to circumstance? Any insight or information you may have into the relationship of Robinson & Russell would be appreciated?-MD.

I believe they just played basketball together. I don't know how friendly they were or weren't off the court. The few references I found mentioned only their teammate status, not any particular friendship. I believe the only other sport Russ played in high school was track, but I'm not 100% sure. Sorry I don't know more.
