any interest in Spencer Hawes?
Charlotte reportedly will send a future first to a team that takes him.
has one year left at about $6.5M with his trade kicker and another year as a player option.
28YO now and brings a 3 point shot with his 7-0 frame. but not much else , except hustle and a little rebounding.
IF Zeller wants more than that $6.5M, I might think about doing that trade myself. We should have the cap room to take him on.

correction!
it didn't say a future first round pick.
The Hornets have been trying to trade Spencer Hawes and the remaining $11.7 million on his contract to clear salary-cap space, a move that will likely require the Hornets to attach a future draft pick, league sources said.

I'd do it, if Zeller cost too much, but only if I can get a first along with him.

kdp,
Hawes has two years left on his contract. He makes about $6M in 2017-2108, a player option. Depending upon Danny's need for cap space next year that might be the problem. Does Hawes think he's worth more than $6M in this crazy free agent market? If he does then it's a one-year rental, not a two year.
I'm not a fan of Hawes. There's a reason why he's 7' tall and getting passed around the league like a party girl, he's soft as a grape on defense. We need shooting but we already have a 7'er that shoots 3s. We need a lights out wing.
I say 'no thanks'.

And help Michael Jordan? No way.I rather have Boris Diaw who San Antonio need to trade for the same reason and is on the last year of his contract.

Diaw is a much better target than Hawes as he clearly fits more of what we need coming off the bench, but I hope that Diaw is not Ainge's primary target either.
Hawes may think that he is worth more than $6 M but every NBA player probably feels he deserves a raise after this past weekend's money tossing days, but his contract will not be renegotiated by any team anytime soon. He is a one trick pony that the Cs really do not need because Olynyk is just as good of a shooter, passes much better, can drive to the hoop much better and will rebound a play defense at least as good.
Even if Hawes were to bring a mid round draft pick with him I still don't think that he is worth picking up for two years of his services.

international,
Excellent point. Spurs need to make room for Gasol. Any player from GSW or San Antonio would be welcome, since the type of play Brad is implementing is similar to theirs.
Diaw is 34 years old, so we shouldn't expect much from a one-year rental except multi-championship experience. We sure could use someone on the team with that.

International,
Spurs just traded Diaw to Utah, I guess to make salary cap room for Gasol.

yeah but we all know how much Ainge likes those draft picks....LOL.
I agree he's nothing more than a replacement for Zeller. But when O misread and thought is said a first round pick It got my interest for a minute.
