IMO, it is too early to be saying that Rondo is going to be out for 12 months. I've read reports that he could be back for training camp and there are other reports that stretch it out perhaps to a month into the season.

The surgery hasn't been done yet, but the positive signs are:

1. Rondo played 10 minutes in a game after the injury. He walked to the locker room and then walked back and sat on the bench.

2. "Mystery of this injury is after Hawks game, Rondo talked with media, was not favoring or icing knee, like a normal postgame" (Gary Washburn tweet)

3. He went through warm-ups on Sunday at TD Garden but was a late scratch from the game vs. Miami and instead underwent an MRI at New England Baptist Hospital.

4. "Rajon Rondo just returned to the building in his warm-ups walking back to the Celtics locker room slight limp with no crutches" (Mike Petraglia tweet, posted at 7:31PM)

Rondo's injury does change how this season will play out, but I will hold off worrying about next season until after I read the post-surgery reports.

I liked what Doc said, and I will leave it there:

"You can write our obituary," Doc Rivers said. "I won't."
