For several years I've been one of the sponsors of what has become the top high school basketball sectional and regional tournament in NY State. Among the things they do for sponsors, some of our kids get to be ball boys during warm-ups and help hand out trophies and swag to winners. My son decided to invite his friend who was born in LA to the event a couple of weekends back and the friend showed up at our place in a jersey you might expect of a west coast transplant. My son quickly changed out of his Rondo jersey he had on and 8,400 plus people got to see what you see below; my son is the one without the cap.

I've told him if I'm paying for college, this doesn't become a habit. At least he wore a Rondo t-shirt to the Sam's gathering and game last weekend!

All; keep an eye out for this guy, below. Already signed by Syracuse; 6' 10" HS senior Chinonso Obokoh. C/PF, could become a good one.

NYCelt,

Your son looks great in the Kobe jersey.
You might want to check with your wife to see if he has had the "how do you think Dad would feel if I became a Lakers fan?" conversation.

NY,

You forgot to complete the sentence:

"My son quickly changed out of his Rondo jersey he had on . . ."

1. into one that my wife had secretly bought him for Christmas.
or
2. into the one he had secretly bought with his allowance.
or
3. into the one the two boys had actually agreed to wear to the event.
or
4. into the one I had bought him when the pain meds and alcohol had taken over.

LOL

PS: They must have been very excited to participate in such an event in front of so many people. Yay for them!!

Guys,

The jersey was a gift from my brother, who is a Lakers fan.

You can imagine what it was like growing up at our house every winter, and Uncle Don likes to get at me through his nephew. To compound the agony he also sent an Artest jersey.

You know what they say about paybacks. He has two daughters and neither of my nieces are NBA fans so I'll find another route, but you bet whatever I come up with it's going to involve some shamrocks!

Regards
